Ok so just to let you know, I live RIGHT NEXT to yosemite and its busy as **** Memorial day weekend. In fact, I got lost last year in Yosemite on memorial day weekend. Two friends and i ended up walking 8 miles, lost, trying to hitchhike but no one would pick us up. The sherriffs were even notified, even though we had zero cellphone service to reach us at. And then a marine picked us up and drove us around in 3 hours of backed up traffic. SO GET THERE EARLY, and dont get LOST!!!! It is awfully beautiful up there though. I love living in the california mountains, whoo hoo!!!!!!

Yep. I'll be WORKING at Yosemite natl. park. I am a tram driver / narrater in the Mariposa grove of giant Sequoias in the southern part of the park. If you make it down there, look me up. Just ask for John. (BTW, fill your gas tank outside the park before you go in, 3 weeks ago the only station there was selling for $4. a gallon. It's probably a lot closer to $5. a gallon now. If you come through the south entrance, you can fill up in Oakhurst, about 15 miles south of the entrance.) And if you want to see the largest living things on the planet, go to the Mariposa grove. We have about 500 big trees there. One has a tunnel cut into it so you can walk through it. The trees are unbelievable. The Grizzly giant, (the oldest in the grove) has a circumferance of 96 ft. One of the limbs on it has a diameter of between 6-7'. That limb is larger than any non Sequoia tree in the forest. And a little bit of advice, the park rangers here are very strict about almost every thing, but mostly speeding and drinking. Be sure to go up to Glacier point. Once there you can see out over the high country, then look straight down at the valley floor below you there. You can see 2 waterfalls from the point. Hopefully the waterfalls will still be wet when you get there. We had less than a third of normal snow pack, so there's not much left to fall. Feel free to E-mail me if you need more info.
