You hear about them but you never see them, I'm personally not convinced that the world's largest animal isn't extinct.

What are you talking about, the blue whale is not extinct. I saw a documentary on it the other day. Check out the discovery channel and the series Planet Earth.

What??? I never heard of their horrible demise...Let's all have a moment of silence for the Blue Whale. Then we can light candles and put then on little floating things and send them out to sea in honor of every Blue Whale that was needlessly slaughtered during the times of the great cleansing. Then we can wait for the other sea creatures to swallow the candles choke to death and we can repeat the process over again.

Really though, I didn't hear about the Blue Whale being extinct I heard about the Yahngtzee River Dolphin becoming extinct though.

Blue Whales are probably just really shy and rare which could explain why they are almost never seen.

There is not a daily record on there movement, if you wish to them you need to actually be in the right part of the world at the right time. There is nothing to suggest extinction and your never likely to find one with out knowledge of there migration routes and a boat. If they had not been seen recently there would be reports in journals and wildlife magazines about them not being around, however there isn't, in fact they have been spotted off Alaska for the first time in 30 years and tours are available to see them from Santa Barbara in Ca. ran by the American cetacean society all summer. I live by the coast and know that we have many species of dolphin and whale here and I have only seen one species, that does not mean they don't exist anymore.

If you want to see blue whales, go to southern South Australia. There are regular whale spotting trips from the town of Robe and probably other towns down there. The whales come to an upwelling of cold, nutrient-rich water to feed on krill.
