Liberals and Conservatives... man the things we could do if we'd get over ourselves and stop fighting... can you imagine it... everyone has healthcare .. those down on their luck get help to get back on their feet... people can't abuse the systems and they are streamlined and all of the fat cut out so we aren't wasting money... people more highly educated.. the nation would truly be in a golden age... but neither side can do it alone. Isn't it time? Can our nation really take us bickering like this for much longer?

That is our dream world . And it's OK to dream and strive for the better . Pip, that may have been achievable earlier in our country's history, but I don't think it's possible anymore, and I'll try to explain why . As our country became a financial power, people became corrupted with power and money . And that corruption has grown to proportions of no return . Whereas in the past, there were only a handful of corrupt people and leaders, now it is widespread and no longer controllable . In order for your dream to come true, you'd have to remove the corruption of man . And as I see it, no man can change that . It would take a person who is willing to do what would be considered very unpopular by those currently with power, and they also have the power to make it appear unpopular with the masses . Chaos would ensue, and rebellion or insolence would be the order of the day . Those currently with power and money(they go hand in hand), would use that power in the wrong way to stifle anything that would remove whatever level of power they have already achieved . As you know, I say it like I see it . And I believe we live in the land of confusion now . And there's only 1 'person' who can successfully change that !!

The opportunity was there after 9/11 - never seen an unpopular president garner so much good will (both domestic and global) so fast, and then squander it so petulantly. So, I have to agree with the first answerer - if it didn't stick then, it's never gonna happen.
