I couldn't agree more. Just once in a while, I would like to see some concern for a missing non-white child, or a slow or handicapped child, or even just a really homely child. Their parents love them just as much, but I guarantee you no celebrity outside their immediate circle would donate 50 cents to find them, nevermind millions.

Good question... Why do the media perpetuate racism by always mentioning their race? Why are non-white candidate's identity always identified by their race, whether Hispanic, Japanese, Black, etc....?
I think it's disgusting and it truly does restrict a candidate within racist categories. When origin is NOT mentioned, I think that we, for the most part, assume he/she is white - and that is the result of the un-ending racist approach to our culture.
Profiling missing white children is probably justified by viewer ratings, but this, again reflects the inherent racism in our media, businesses, and society. I think the bottom line is money... Is there more profit in the racist structure of our society than if it were not racist? I would assume that if we were LESS racist there would be a redistribution of money away from those institutions, the media included, who ARE racist - and that would be a good thing.

I don't know where you live, but we have stories on the news and in the paper about missing children and adults of all ethnicity.

Maybe you are not looking in the right places.

What are you talking about? Just by asking that question you are being racist... I just don't understand what this race thing is all about. There is only one race and that is Human. Did you know that when anthropologists find a human cadaver or skeleton they cannot determine "race" (skin color or eye shape)? Then who are we kidding? Why would they purposely add news about "non-white"? (My skin is white and I'm not of European descent) that only increases the race awareness we should be trying to get rid of... The only reason I see to pay attention to this is when we're trying to describe/identify a criminal or certain person.
And about diversity, that depends on the group to make themselves known or stand out, not the news media.
