Absolutely. It's called sympathy weight, because the husband just wants to do what you're doing. The more you eat, the more he will eat.

I say this because I am in that situation right now. I'm actually a thin guy, so I'm kinda looking forward to packing on a few =)

But I've already noticed some things (my wife is at 14 weeks right now):

If my wife makes dinner, she'll make more than she used to - which usually means I'll eat more than I used to.

If my wife wants some ice cream at night (whereas she didn't used to), I think to myself, "mmmm, ice cream...I could go for some of that too..."

Basically, I've been snacking when she's been snacking, which is more often than I (and her) used to. So, yes, I think it is pretty normal (even though I'm sure there are others who don't).

We didn't touch each other during pregnancy. Not once. He doesn't think you're gross. He's just getting comfortable and possibly a little lazy. Right now there's not much you can do to counter this as you are both prepping for the baby and naturally, things are going to fizzle to some degree (maybe a lot). Just make sure that you, and especially him, don't start slacking too much because once he starts to lose his game and isn't going out of his way to impress you things will take a turn for the crappy.

Yes, I would know by experience when the guy gained weight but as time goes by you tend to lose it, I think it is because you are eating for two, along with the mother!!

LOL it's all about the connection hahaha. With my first baby, my twin brother had all the symptoms, gained as much weight as I did and he actually felt the labor pains not me but thats fine with me hahaha..and with my second one my husband gained weight and had all the pregnancy pains. i swear its like i just passed it on to those who loved me the most to take the pain for me LOL

Yes. My boyfriend did. He gained about 15 pounds, and has slowly lost it as I lost my pregnancy weight.

He also got nauseous randomly throughout the day, he got dizzy and lightheaded, and he couldn't stand the smell of pizza.

I think it's sympathy.

Haha, yeah, it's sympathy symptoms, or Couvade's syndrome. Personally I think the reason for the weight gain is that mama is eating more and dad keeps up with her. It happens fairly frequently though/

hehe, sympathy weight is what i call it. all those midnight snacks and 'eating for two' and food runs allow him to pick up food (and usually not healthy food) and eat is as well, so yes, many men can gain weight during their wives pregnancies.

That certainly sounds weired, but in the beginning my Husband had my Morning Sickness. And I think that it could just be possible. Or maybe people just believe in it soo much ...who knows.
Congrats on the baby!
