No, no & no again. Any 10 year old should know right from wrong. If they try to claim otherwise then it's their parents' responsibility-perhaps such parents should be willing to take whatever rap is due to their offspring instead of them if they feel that their little Kyle or Kylie isn't old enough to know any better?

I seem to remember that age of criminal responsibility was 8 years old, when I was a child; at that age I definitely knew it was wrong to nick apples from the local Rectory orchard - why else did I need to crawl in through a broken fence rather than walk in the front gate to help myself?
Our "just desserts"? A group of us were caught by the local "bobby" as we crawled out, and all received a clout for our crime. I had another from my father when I complained to him about "police brutality"!!!

Absolutely not! Are they trying to tell us that 10-year-olds who commit crimes don't know what they're doing is wrong? C'mon! I've taught kids from the ages of 7 to 15 and the 7-year-olds are savvy and smart enough to know what they should be doing and what they shouldn't regardless of their home environment. Have the authors of this report ever met any of these kids? It's just another attempt by liberals to take away any responsibility from these kids for their actions. Don't let them do it!

No it should be lowered to about 5 as so many kids that age are horrible little criminal chavs.

Yep it should, then we can stop locking up all the teenage murderers, Rapists and Thugs that are out there. Also what sort of a signal would it send out to the rest of today's young teens(I can nick that and get away with it) Bloody ridiculous is what I say!

RAISED? It should be reduced to the age of 8!!!!!

Old Jesuit saying: give me the boy and at 7 I will return the man.

absolutely not! Kids are growing up too quickly these days and know much more than we used to. As a result they know right from wrong at an earlier age and play on it. If anything it should be lowered.

They all seem to be old enough to know their 'rights' so it's about time they learned their responsibilities as members of society. Oh no, I've just spotted the reference. Had to be the Guardian didn't it?

they should lower it if anything.

7 sounds about right.

although a child if raised correctly should know right from wrong by the time they start school.
