Never. We always used to get rock at the beach, as well as family and friends bringing us a stick back from their hols. Just traditional, I suppose. But I've never eaten a full stick and don't know of any other kid who has. Never really liked the stuff STICK OF ROCK= Made from candy, very sugary and hard. Various sizes, usually striped (like the old barber shop pole) or in different colours. Some have a little pic' of the sea-side town in the cellophane wrapper

My Mum wouldn't even let me open it before she threw it in the bin she said it was too sticky and bad for your teeth..
