I have a fairly new 350 in my chevy truck. One of the lifters is knocking and I need info. on how to resolve it. My friend told me I can take the valve cover off and tighten it down while it,s running. He said to tighten it down till the noise stops then back it off a quarter turn. I could really use some help here. I need to know exactly what to look for and what not to do as well as what to do. Thanks Broke w/ two kids

They have hydraulic tappets. (lifters)
Your friend is half right. It does need to be done while the engine is running.

It's a messy job. Some auto parts stores may rent you the rocker clips to keep the oil from squirting all over the place.

With the engine idling, use a 9/16" (I think) socket and tighten the adjuster nut on top of the noisy rocker arm until the noise stops. Then, SLOWLY continue turning it 1/2 a turn farther.

The lifter will compress a little as it is suppose to.

There is zero lash on hydraulic lifters.

Find the lifter. Pull the nut and rocker arm off and check the rocker. Replace the nut. With the engine warm, tighten the nut down (slowly) until the rocker just quits tapping. Then go one more turn in quarters. That should be the correct adjustment. Be careful of the hot oil squirting from the other rockers.

seem on your front axle, there may well be an electric powered swap there below a dirt or crash preserve....i've got have been given 2 GMC automobiles the two 4x4 a 1994 K2500 and a 1996 K1500......it might desire to be that, or take a actual stable seem at your fuses, the extra moderen ones can betough to work out while they blow . My ninety six did that final 365 days and that i replaced the axle swap and the fuse, the two have been cooked....on no account had the subject returned...because your lighting fixtures are not going on i'm very very nearly beneficial that's what your situation is...stable success!

Listen to what Mr. Know it all has to say. Be aware that if the noise comes back, you have a problem with the stud the loose rocker is on. These studs are pressed into the head and from time to time will work loose.
