I'd like to name my daughters after Natalie Wood and Sophia Loren. I think those two actresses are/were awesome, and if that give my child an advantage, well, so be it!

I have often wondered how/if celebrity names surge with the common person...did the name Monica or Rachel show up more often during Friends than now? If you name your kid Micheal after Micheal Jordan do you think he'll get basketball talent through the name alone?

But to actually answer your question...

I think it could be more hurtful because then the kid must either live up to the name (in MJ's case) or live down the rep (like in Anna Nicole's).

No, I would never name my baby Elvis or Anna Nicole.

i think its cool to pick a famous name. i don't think it will hurt the child at all. By the time the child is in school nobody will even know who Elvis or Anna Nicole is.

If I named my child after someone famous, it would not be two messed-up druggies like Elvis Presley and Anna Nicole Smith. And I don't think I'd want to call my daughter "Paris" or "Brittney" either. I might consider calling a girl Oprah, though!

I don't think Elvis is that bad. You name your child Anna Nicole and just call her Anna and no one would know. I think do what you want.

I personally would not.

I think genetics has a lot more influence on a baby's "chances" (in life), but these names would definitely not help. The first thing the child will inevitably be asked is, "Oh, were you named after...?" It's a boring question, and your child will be sick of it by the time they begin gradeschool.

Thumbs down to both. Elvis is dead and he's not coming back. We have had enough of Anna Nicole.

I wouldn't name them either of those that is for sure. I think it can hurt sometimes. I was looking for "M" names when I was pregnant. And I liked the name Mariah, I think it is a very pretty name. But everyone I asked about it said, oh yeah like Mariah Carey, soooooo needless to say even though I loved the name, she ruined it for me!!!

a famous name does not make one famous. name a child something you like not what you think everyone else wants to hear. anna nichole was not even her real name what does that tell you.

the only lady names i admire out of your record are Calista (with an "a" on the tip, no longer an "o"), and Ariadne. those are the two large names. i think of she would have countless problems with any of the different names indexed (with learning to spell it, for one...and with people spelling & saying it, for yet another!). For a boy, Achilles is effective, Ares is advantageous, and Ajax would be ok (despite if it jogs my memory of rest room purifier!). For the twins, how approximately Ares and Ariadne? Or Ares and Calista? i admire those 2 combinations! solid success!!
