The vaccine? You mean the shot? Depo?

Lots of people have issues with the shot... the patch is worse... you would think they would do more testing on this stuff before approving it!

I know alot of women have luck with an IUD. No hormones.

I think you have to wait the full 3 months before starting a different birth control.

There is no such thing as a "birth control vaccine". If you are referring to Depo (the injection that lasts 12 weeks), it is normal to have irregular bleeding, especially in the first 3 months. Most women on depo dont have a period at all, or else they only get it right before their next shot is due. Some women will bleed for the entire 3 months after their first shot, and this is normal too. However, if you are concerned or the bleeding is bothering you, your provider may want to prescribe a birth control pill to take to stop the bleeding. Go talk to your provider!

Once the Depo is in your system, you cant switch to another method until the hormone is out of your system (12 weeks), but if you want you can switch to something else after that. Again, there's a way to stop the bleeding but you need to talk to your health care provider about it.

Your health care provider should have made it VERY clear to you about what kind of birth control you are on and what to expect as far as side effects. If not, you should ask more questions until you understand or go to a different health care provider (ie Planned Parenthood).

Yes, that is a normal side effect from the shot. It has a lot of other nasty problems too including bone deterioration, infertility later, no periods, prolonged bleeding, anemia, etc.
As soon as your next shot is due ask to be put on something else--the pill, patch, vaginal ring, IUD.

Birth control vaccine? Are you sure you went to a doctor?

When my daughter went on Depo..she bleed for a month off and on. At times it was very heavy, with clots and all and her gyn told her it was a 'normal' reaction to the shot.

Hang in there...it will get better.

Good Luck
