Ok maybe kill is the worse case intention. But say you went into the future from the year 2007 to the year 2027 to see yourself in the future. The problem with that is that between that 20 year time gap, wouldent you be missing or something?
i mean if u leave the year 2007, technically you wouldent reappear until the year 2027 so u technically didnt exist to grow old or anything. Maybe u can send a video camera to see yourself in the future, but i dont think u would be actually physically be able to actually meet yourself, am i right?
The same goes for if u travel in the past, but i think thats a little more lenient because the only way there would be problems is if you do kill yourself in the past, you wouldent be alive to exist in the future to do that in the first place. But u can probably meet yourself in the past beacause there is no missing time gap. But it would be totally ausome to see what happens if i kill myself in past, right? Maybe the space time continum will explode.

I candidly admit I don't quite understand your question, seem to be some ambiguities & assumptions I couldn't imagine answering. For example, if you "killed" yourself (in the past) how could there be a future? (You "sort of" went into that.) Another thing, if you could project itno 2027, why couldn't you also put yourself anywhere you'd like to be? Between 2007 & 2027? & why wouldn't you have grown old? Personally, I see no reason why "time travel" can't one day be possible. Think of the predictions made many years ago that were considered fantasy, but have happened. I "believe" in parallel worlds/time. With substantially sound basis. I KNOW that these parallels can be "tapped." I hope you continue to explore these things. I "feel" that only the close minded reject possibilities. You might like to look into the string theory. Quite fascinating & I think you'd be intrigued.

Dr. Stephen Hawking discussed time travel and killing your grandfather in the past before your father was conceived. I don't remember off hand whether it was in 'A Brief History of Time' or 'The Universe in a Nutshell' but it was one of them. The odds of being able to do that are astronomical but you would have to ask him how it gets calculated, us ordinary mortals would never understand.
As for time gaps, it would depend on whether you could return to 2007. If not, you would not be able to meet yourself as there would only be the you coming from 2007. If you did return, then you would grow older and meet yourself as a time traveler and, I rather think it would not throw anything out if the 2007 you killed the 2027 you. Except you would probably go insane knowing the future.

You make any number of assumptions here, none of which have to be true at all. To list a few:
- The future and past exist.
- It is possible to travel to the future or the past.
- Time exists in a single unbroken line.
- The universe has to make sense.
If any of these are untrue, your conundrum entirely disappears. If there is no future or past or you can't get there, then there's no way for the 'paradox' to appear. If there isn't just ONE future or past, you can kill as many of yourself as you like and it may make no difference. Or if the universe doesn't really have to make logical sense in the manner you describe, then perhaps you can kill yourself in the past, never be born, and it's no big deal.
In my experience, the universe is not a computer program that just halts if it encounters a problem. In my experience there ARE no problems... laws of nature are laws that can't be broken. That, I suppose, it why the universe doesn't need a jail.
Peace.

As fun as it is to pretend, time travel does not and cannot exist in the way you set out. Our Univers, you, me and everything else literally travels through time constantly.
Remember the fact that a thing cannot exist in two places at once? Normally applied to three dimensions the same is true in four dimensions. If you exist right now, obviously you cannot exist at any other point on the timeline.
If you could travel backwards in time, you would find nothing. Well, not nothing - there maybe matter scattered along the timeline as well as the three spatial dimensions, but you would not find the earth of the past. The earth has physically moved and is not in the past to be found.
So, enjoy the science fiction, but realize that no matter how sophisticated or how promininent the physicists that makes a claim to the contrary, time travel is impossible.

a missing time gap would only exist if you never returned to the past. you could kill your future self and go back.
the best question is, then you would rememeber how you killed yourself. if you avoid the attempt at your life you could mess things up, also before you now killed you in the future. that you would know and not allow you to kill you.
as you can see there are bigger fish to fry than a time gap.

actually from what little I understand is that you can go to the future or past and meet yourself as long as you come back to the exact date you left. But knowing that you were coming to see yourself then what changes would you make?
