Mat 5v44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Ah, crap. Here we go again....Full disclosure: I'm a Christian Conservative. I also have a problem with the level of religion in politics at times. Go ahead and use your religious beliefs to form a hypothesis, but you can't use them to form your argument. A lot of people will simply ignore you and others will take offense or become hostile. But since you seem to want a Christian answer, chew this over: when we punish evil doers, according to the words of the Apostle (Romans 13:4): "He beareth not the sword in vain: for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil".

If your going to quote the Bible then do not give only the view that suits your purpose.

Jesus' philosophy was beautiful...but he never wanted ANYONE to sit by and allow injustice to take over...even Jesus had a temper (he fashioned his own whip)
John 2:15
So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

Deuteronomy 20:9
9And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.

This is a hard thing to do regardless of political affiliation. I runs against the very essence of human nature, and therefore is anti-intuitive. Public policy base on these principles is difficult to enact because it would tend to run against general public opinion. If you want an example look at the fight for Civil Rights through non-violent protest.

Who's not listening?

Your ignorance is blatant.

You present an amalgamation of issues then lay the whole at the feet of one . . .

It is never that simple.

Here Jesus advocates reaching out to others (stepping outside of your comfort zone), teaching them, and showing them the Light. People who believe in Jesus (either as Christ or teacher), do this even at their peril.

But it doesn't say "give terrorists whatever they want", does it? You need to place your chosen quote into some context. Jesus was referring to personal relationships, not ones that effect others. If a terrorist is trying to kill other people, I suppose Jesus would want me to prevent that murder, instead of loving the terrorist exclusively.

Not even Democrats are so peaceful that they won't retaliate when attacked.

Nice try, and I agree with the verse on a personal level, but you can't pin this one on Republicans only.

Why are Republicans obligated to listen to Jesus? Christians profess faith in Jesus. Republicans profess faith in a political agenda.

There is a difference.

I thought Republicans were a political party, and not a religion.

because many of us don't believe in him....honestly, do you think it would work?.....me either...it may be all good for the lord to say bless them and love them....I prefer we show our love the way a good parent does...with a little hug and a big belt.

That philosophy works when the enemies aren't absolutely crazy and aren't brought up to want to kill Americans. YOU CANNOT CHANGE THAT YOU NEED TO KILL THEM
