It seems to me that people need to stop dwelling on things they can't change... this is the hand we were dealt people.. deal with it and move on! The great thing is this applies to so many situations... Abortion.. if you don't like it or do like it.. the Supreme Court says it's legal and you aren't going to change that.. only they can change that.. so deal with it and move on.. you want to make a difference? Then start trying to help mothers in need so they don't think they have to choose that.

Iraq.. we shouldn't have gone in.. but hey guess what.. we can't change that so deal with it and move on.. No one is going to be looking into this stuff till after Bush is out of office and dwelling in it won't help the situation now. I'd prefer us to not be there but till we get a new president that is not an option.

see how well that works? What else can it be applied to?

As far as abortion, no one can move on because the Supreme Court still CAN change it. The Republican Party is trying to place Republicans judges in the Supreme Court to not only change Roe vs. Wade, but Affirmative Action and education laws to take this country back to segregation days.

As far as Iraq, the longer we stay in Iraq, the more money is being WASTED. Who do you think pays for that? We do. Then when taxes are raised, people are going to blame each other, not the people who are responsible, which is the bush Administration. Then this country will be divided even further.

I can;t help but wonder how you compare a woman's right, to an unfounded war? Supreme COurt did NOT make abortion legal, it WAS legal, from the time the constitution was written. The war in Iraq was a huge mistake, and could be ended today, with the mandate given to the newly elected congress. I realize this won;t happen, but I will continue to challenge my leaders on this. If we hadn't, NO changes would have been made. At least we are haivng conversations now, and no longer being called 'terrorist' for speaking out against an obvious failed policy that we are paying for. Tax dollars don;t go to abortion, but they DO go to the war. I feel I have a say in how my tax dollars are spent. if you want to force people who support it to pay for it themselves (like they do with abortion) then fine. I appreciate that you are trying to be no partisan in this question, but the examples were not good for comparing, IMO

Example 1: abortion. The supreme court can't make it legal because the supreme court isn't supposed to make laws. That's the job of the legislature or the people. Courts decide if laws have been broken and that's all.

Example 2: Iraq. The democrats voted for the use of force in Iraq so they should live with their decision instead of wanting to just bug out at the first opportunity. It's not supporting the troops to cut their funding and hope they lose.

Son of a gun, somebody already posted this, but not exactly right, so I'll make the correction .

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. . . . . . The courage to change those that I can. . . . . . and the wisdom to know the difference . -- The Serenity Prayer .

Too complacent for my taste.

The inherent problem with the "suck it up and deal with it" mantra, as it applies here, is that by not speaking up, we're sending the message to our government that it's okay. And I don't know about you, but to me... the administration's actions are most certainly NOT okay.
