Joe Strummer and Mick Jones did not get on in the 1980s, and then Topper Headon left, then Mick Jones left (or rather, was sacked). And finally, Joe Strummer decided to break up the band completely. I think it was in1986.
And then he died...

Edit: I remember that already in 1983, things were not going very well: they were going to play in Brixton, and then they canceled because Strummer left for Spain. And Topper Headon being a drug addict did not help much...

They didnt get on on and fell out over the type of music they wanted to play. Mick Jones was famously sacked from the band, and after that Strummer & Simonon tried to carry on for a few years with various temporary members. The very last album, "Cut the Crap" is not even really a proper Clash album..it was recorded when they had become a five-peice band and completely unrecognisable from the original band.

But at their peak, they were sensational.

The lead singer of the Clash, Joe Strummer, died a number of years ago(about 3 or 4 years ago). The Clash did play as a band off and on up until the year before his death. In fact they played on Conan O'Brien about a year before he died. Joe will be sorely missed. I am a huge Clash fan. I hope this helps. Take care and keep on Rockin'

Louie,Louie by the kingsmen. You also may try Whipeout by the Ventures.Any insturmental music from the 60's have simple 3 chord progressions. If you are into power chords,& a who fan i strongly suggest Pinball Wizard. Also i suggest you find some sheet music that is tablaturized. It will show you how to play the chords, both bass & leads as well as show the beats & time changes. It may also help to invest in a tamborine or maracas, they were used often by bands in the 60's &also help to drown out the sounds you don't want people to hear.hope this helps.

They could not get along, and also they had formed as a way of instigating political change. As it was clear this was not going to happen, they could see no point in going on
