Is there a way to hyphenate a paragraph while hiding hyphens at the same time ?
To be specific, I have a flow of characters that spans more than one line of text. (basically it's like a 300 letter word without any spaces inside). I don't mind the word breaking from one line to another but hyphens are not meaningful here.

Thanks Jen and Greg for your time; however when I do this the paragraph just vanishes !! In story mode I can see that that part of the text is labeled as "overset". I havent found an answer yet.

The only way I found to get rid of the "overset" text is to extend the text box to the right until the whole paragraph fits on one line. Of course the paragraph is then wider than the page, so it is not a possible solution.

Or instead of creating an entirely new Paragraph Style, you can just open up the Paragraph palette (from Window >Type and Tables) and if necessary, on the palette menu, choose Show Options... and at the bottom of the palette you should see a checkbox for Hyphenation, just uncheck it. There's even a third method using the Control palette at the top of the screen.

yes you can...

Go to window menu >> type and tables >> paragraph styles>>

in the paragraph styles palette, click the small circle with a triangle inside of it ( it is next to where it says basic paragraph). Click on "new paragraph style".

In that box click on "hyphenation", its to the left. Uncheck the hyphenation box. It'll turn them all off in side of that particular text box.
