On Friday night I was in my half-bathroom cleaning, there is no counter top in this bathroom only a porcelain sink and pedestal that the plumbing runs through. I slipped and (I am so embarrassed) knocked myself completly out. I woke up on the bathroom/bedroom floor and when I tried to stand the pain in my head was so severe that it brought me to my knees. Iced my head, I actually cracked a porcelain sink. I have had varying degrees of the following and although its is better I am still having symptoms:

1. Blurred vision/eyes hurt/ with extended computer use at work and or reading or writing.
2. Constant headache with varying degrees of pain depending upon whether or not I am doing work/reading/writing.
3. Loss of depth perception which also varies depending upon what I am doing. From mild to severe.

Unable to get to an appropriate physician have no health insurance.

How concerned should I be?
Some suggestions on what I can do? Should do? etc.? Worried!!!!

It sounds like a concusion, you should get to a medical professional as soon as possible. You could have bleeding on the brain...worse case scenario...but you never know. If you cracked a porcelain sink then you hit your head really hard. I know that having no insurance is hard, but your life is more important then a bill....explain your situation when you get to the hospital, there are a ton of programs out there that will help pay your bills for you and as long as you pay a little bit of something each month, then it won't go on your credit.

Go get it checked out. It is always better to be safe then sorry!!

Oh my god wow. Go to the emergency room and get checked out you may have a concussion or something more serious. I understand you don't have health insurance. A lot of hospitals or urgent care centers have a way to set up a payment plan or waive the fee completely depending on income. Explain your situation to them and see what they can do, but you definitely need to get checked out just in case.

sounds like a concussion to me too. I've had three or four and they get worse after each one. Get checked, but I'm sure you're fine. These symptoms can last a few days, few weeks or months depending on the degree of the concussion. Also, you need to get someone to wake you up a few times in the middle of the night to check the size of your pupils.

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

Yes it is serious. Go to the hospital, it sounds like a concussion but it could be worse. Even if it is "just" a concussion, it is important to see a doctor and get treatment, as there is something called "post-concussive syndrome" which occurs most often when the head injury is untreated, and you DO NOT WANT IT!!!

An emergency care facility cannot turn a patient away for not having means to pay. It's the law. Or go to a free clinic, check your phone book. Just go. And go NOW, you could be hemmoraging.

God bless and good luck
