Toyota is #1 in dependability!!! It is very reliable brand and for the most part their cars are less expensive and more durable than GM's Saabs. Do not get me wrong, I think Saab makes aesthetically appeasing autos, but their quality is not as good. However, the Saab 9-3/9-5 have very good crash test scores as a number of Toyotas do as well. Toyota also has almost all of its full model range recommended in Consumer Reports. I own a 4Runner and it has never put me down. Considering that you are comparing a Saab with a Toyota, which are in two different classes, I would suggest evaluating what type you want. The Avalon offers a bundle of technology adn a price that is sure to catch your attention. Look at America's number one luxury brand as well-Lexus...Good Luck! If you need more advice, you know where to look.

Saab is far superior to Toyota. Not only that it is a General Motors vehicle and the money stays in the US system. I had a Saab 95 a few years ago and it was one of the best cars I have ever owned.

Money spent on Saab is kept in America? True, Saab is owned by G.M. but Saabs are built in Sweden.
Most Toyota's are built in America with most parts sourced here.
Saabs are nice cars, Unique, Iconoclastic, Toyota's are a little boring, but they bore you trouble free for years.
I have owned them all and now drive Honda's exclusively.
Reliable as a Toyota, with great engines AND a blast to drive.

Toyota, it;s called Saab because when it needs a repair then you 'sob". I have had several Toyota's and never had a bit of a problem. I did change my oil every 3,000 miles and had the maintenance's done. I sold my Camry with over 150,000 miles on it, I saw the person that bought it, Said he loved it, still doesn't use oil he did have to have the brakes done at 200,000 miles though. I used Castrol and still do in my cars

I've had both and have very good luck with both. Keep them serviced and don't abuse them and they will run for years. I have had Toyotas that I've put over 200,000 miles on with no major problems. I currently have a 1986 Saab 900T with over 190,000 miles on it and a 1989 9000 Saab with 228,000 miles on it that I drive to work everyday. (about 400 miles weekly) Any car will last if you take care of it.

Toyota by far...Get a Hybrid ;) you never know if you buy a G.M you may get a Toyota motor in it anyways (like with the Vibe.) Plus the econo-box Toyota Yaris (stock) out runs the "sporty" Pontiac Solstice on the slolam. :D

ALL cars need service and repairs eventualy.
Buy a Toyota.
Parts and service are a nightmare for Saabs.
If you could even find someone to work on it......
