Well is was not like there was 10 QBs taking before him, so maybe no one needed a QB, regardless what Mel Kiper says.

I honestly think this class of QB's was being compared to last years. Obviously, its not even close considering you had leinart, young, cutler headlining it. So, I think they didn't want to shell out the big bucks this year. Only team that did was oakland and they were real desperate for one so they got the QB w/ the first pick. They would've been in a better shape if they got one in last year's draft, but hindsight is 20/20. I think Al Davis (he's still in charge regardless of the coach) still wants to try the long bomb, so he went w/ the QB that obviously has the arm for it. In contrast, Quinn threw for a lot of short passes (Tom Brady style) in Charlie Weis' offense. Oakland can have success this year 'cause Lane Kiffin worked w/ Norm Chow's playbook at USC . But only if they let him mix it up w/ short, mid, long, left, right throws. This was SC's success cause they left the other team guessing on every play, plus they had the talent ofcourse. I think the BCS loss and struggle against USC during his career might have also hurt Brady Quinn's draft rank, just not sure to what degree.

Brady Quinn was picked so late becuz most teams didnt need a QB. Teams draft for need. And besides the Browns thought he was overated and they took a gamble to get him later on. If they drafted him 3rd they wouldnt have got Thomas which was a great pick. By getting Brady 22nd they dont have to pay him that much and its a steal becuz they already have a starting QB.

Quinn is overrated. The Browns needed the linesman and still had some faith in Frye I believe. So they already had the QB BUT needed the help on the line. So you take what you needed. Quinn kept falling though. The Browns somewhat fell for the hype. They also heard there were teams still interested so they called around after about pick 15 or so. Found Dallas said ok give us your second round pick and next year's number one. So they give up next year's first round pick for who they feel will be the Franchise QB. It was a good deal in that they would have probably spent a number one anyway.

Because Joe Thomas was obviously higher in demand and Brady Quinn cracks like my a*s under pressure. Brady Quinn was highly over rated and the draft proved it. And who is to say Joe Thomas is the next Walter Jones? Lineman get hyped too, maybe not as much as quarterbacks. What are you smokin dudeson?

Brady expressed interest in playing for the Browns. The Browns did some shuffling of their picks in order to select Brady. The other responders have points, too. There were probably other players who are "better" than Brady.
The Browns and the fans are happy to have Brady on their team.

Because he is not very good!
Had he come out of some lower profile school (Kansas State, Arizona, NC State) he would not have even been selected in the first round. High media exposure (Notre Dame, USC) often leaves fans, scouts and, importantly, sports writers with elevated perceptions of skill players.
I suspect that both Russell and Quinn will struggle.

Cuz Brady Quinn is a ***** who thinks he is all that, and really, he isn't that impressive. He was lucky he got picked 22! Well, the Browns suck anyway, but that's another story...

Cause teams had to address other issues with their team. Miami figured they still could get Green. The Brown had so many holes to fill and they had a young QB. Just happened they were able to still get him later.
