How do I go about or learning how to look up court cases to help me find out a case that I can use in court that's similiar to my case? For example, although this is made up (KELLER VS. ALPHA PROERTY MANAGEMET) what kind of court cases book or whatever it may be to look up cases? Hope I'm saying this correctly, but it's the best way I can put it!

Lawyers generally use two main sources to find cases similar to a particular factual situation. First, they use treatises, which are compendiums of the law, broken down by subject, to locate cases dealing with the legal issues they are interested in. Second, they run searches on on-line services, particularly Westlaw (www.westlaw.com) and Lexis (www.lexis.com), using search terms to come up with relevant cases. There are also additional resources, such as annotations to statutes that can be helpful.

Trying to locate cases is a complicated process that requires at least some training. You can try running a search at one of the websites above, but it's quite expensive - usually about $60-$100 per search - and you have to know how to use the system. You can try visiting a law library and speaking to a librarian. Unfortunately, generally speaking, law libraries can usually only be found at law schools, and can be difficult for members of the public to access. I would try locating the closest law school, and calling the librarian there to see if they provide help to the public. Otherwise, you will probably need to consult an attorney for assistance. Keep in mind that depending on your problem, you may be able to find help from a legal aid clinic - which you can find in the yellow pages or through your local bar association. Also, if you know any law students, even someone with a few months of education could probably help you with a basic case law search.

The term is "case law."

You could search using "Case Law KELLER vs Alpha" or variations of that!

Best wishes!
