I left this about 15mins ago but on a 6 hour old question, it occured to me that it may not be seen...well i want to have my say don't i? :)

Hello.

I realise that this debate about whether the mccaans should of left her or not and was it neglect has gone on for yonks, but I just wanted to say something that someone else wrote on a different site that I read that literrally i think cant be argued with unless you are a stubborn person.

The person wrote

If by leaving alone maddy she had woken up, opened the door and gone to look for her parents and fallen in the swimming pool and drowned, that would be neglect would it not?

I'm sorry but I really cant argue with that, you cant say it wasnt neglect because it was, it just so happens that she wandered into the wrong hands or, if someone did go in and get her from them leaving her, then that is still neglect and wouldnt of happened were they there.

I do hope she is found, and yes that is the only important thing now, but I think the issue of why they left them should be addressed to them at some point.

By the way, I'm a single mum of a young child and what infuriates me is that had it been me(although personally I would not of left alone my child) the press would be having a field day with me!

At some point the neglect has to be dealt with to her parents.

To answer the above question, personally I would be banging on every door in Portugal, if someone refused me entry, why? what would they be hiding? I've never understood why they didnt/havent done that.
I'd be out constantly searching regardless of advice not to, how can you just sit on the sofa?
A guy at Scotland yard said lots of houses in the local vicinity hadnt been asked to be searched....er....why?
If not by the police, why not the parents?

If, as someone said above, Madeleine had woken up and wandered off to find her parents, fallen in the pool and drowned, they'd be looking at manslaughter. On the grounds of manslaughter meaning "a breach of due care".

As far as I'm concerned any parent leaving their children alone should be charged with child abandonment. Whether they are left for half an hour or throughout the night. Any child left alone while there parents are some 40 yards away is a child that can have a serious accident, be snatched or can wander into harms way and in my book that's neglect!

Hes getting old like the rest of us and is losing all his luster to age. Once this man would have made a awesome Prsident but now age has taken its toll on him unfortunately and thats sad especially when America could have used a younger McCain nowadays in the WH

WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN if they find that little girl how do we know that they Will allow her to go back to them if they had not gone and left the children alone there wouldn't be all this worry and as doctors they should know better i for one hope and pray that they will find her but i relay think that they should be reprimanded for the wrong they have done but at this moment they are not going to put any more pressure and stress on the parents at this time but i relay think that they cant get away with what they have done who in there rite mind would go and leave 3 young baby's on there own my god it don't bare to think about i just cant believe that they would do such a stupid thing what the hell where they thinking about for god sake what is wrong with them i just hope and pray that they find that little girl and she is fit and well i have no Patience with the parents it makes me so angrythe more i read and the more i heard about this i realy felt sorry for them at first but when you think about it my god what the hell got into them

Sorry if this is inappropriate but this is in answer to all the people pulling up the fact that they were doctors and should have known better. At which point of social or professional level does society switch to 'well we wouldn't have expected anything better from them?' teacher? shopworker? salesperson?. I think the blame thing is really unproductive and as has been stated so many times, as for punishing them for neglect, there is no punishment greater than what they are receiving right now. The media circus has really rammed this down our throats and I think the cynics are right about the rewards being in some respect a PR exercise and there are other things going on in the world but if it was my boy who was lost I would be ramming it down everyones necks aswell 24/7 to try to find him.

Yes I agree. The police need to look into the case of neglect.

However, now is not the time. The child who is missing, if found, will need immediate and unfettered contact with her parents (however good or bad they may be).

Dont let our lust for justice stand in the way of the needs of ( what hopefully will be) a firhtened and very tearful child.

There will be time for justice later, right now the parents time, liberty and complete attention belong to the missing child.

I agree with the majority of you. I cant begin to imagine how the couple are feeling and my heart goes out to them.
The one thing I cant understand is that they seem to be going about there business as usual. I myself would have to be out there searching for my child. I know I couldnt rest.

They 100% should be prosecuted, they put there child at risk by leaving her. Their professions should have taught them that there are some strange people about in this world, it is three babies we are talking about being left in that room not teenagers.

Totally agree. Its an awful situation, and I really feel for everyone invloved. But in all the usual media bandwagoning and hype, we've all lost sight of one simple fact. What the hell were they doing leaving three kids, under the age of 3, alone!? As a parent, I just can't get my head around it. I hope Madeleine is found alive and well, but the parents deserve a serious awakening at the end of all this.

i heard that other day, and some expert said they could but highly unlikely. I think they should have some sort of investigation into it but i don't think it will be yet.
