Let's do it. Time's a wasting.

I suppose it is necessary. How else can the rest of the world keep the damned Yankees from invading?
I was born on an island off the Pacific coast, which is full of people who demand we stop development now that they have arrived here. I would have more sympathy if their concern for my home included their departure.
The uncharitable fools who agitate against immigrants forget their own grandparents spoke English as a second language, unless they came from Britain. They are usually the same people as the ones who scream about the high cost of labour and unions, but are simply too moronic to understand that the influx of illegal immigrants is all that keep those costs down.
Closing the borders to refugees, political or economic, would be stupid. It would permanently alter the national character, and be a betrayal of the American dream. It would also raise the cost of goods and services exponentially, but that might be good as it would reduce consumption.
What suprises me is that other nations have not closed the borders already. The North American consumer culture is so obnoxious and aggressive that it threatens everybody else. If you do not cooperate with our agenda we bully, harass and even invade you to make you conform. Surely by now the rest of the planet wants to move to some cosmic transition house until we seek counselling.

If what you mean by closing the borders is actually acting like we have borders I agree. I don't see the purpose of borders if people can just ignore them.
The borders should be controlled and only invited guests and American citizens permitted to cross. We should grant citizenship on the basis of what is best for America. If we need electrical engineers, we should give them priority. If we need chemists we should make them a priority.
We should have a well regulated guest worker program, too. If we need chickenpluckers for a few months or cotton pickers or cornhuskers they should be screened, provided with transportation and accommodations by the business that intends to use them. Once the work is completed, they get transportation out.

Closing the borders wouldn't work for reasons such as oil, we need it. Effectively monitoring the boarder is more like it. We can't say no to all immigrants by tomorrow wouldn't work since most of the scientist at NASA are immigrants, doctors, computer programmers etc. Closing the borders would be an exaggeration of the problem instead we need to monitor and maintain our borders, meaning ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION discouraged LEGAL IMMIGRATION encouraged.

Tough thing to do. We have law enforcement, fences, strict border entry point control and still folks sneak in.
I'm not entirely sure that it is 100% possible. We can't have the military do it for two reasons: their deployment overseas and I don't want the military doing the job law enforcement is supposed to do.

it is my experience that when you let foriegners in they want to take over the country, state, or city to which they move. I really think our borders should have been closed years ago.
In the earliest days of immagration, people were required to pledge aligence to this country, and to learn the presidentsand our language. Not anymore, these people who come here in hopes of a better lifethink we owe them something and expect us to give them handouts and support them while their mother country sends people to live here and kill our people because we are AMERICANS and we have freedoms they don't.

destructive. we have had a friendly, open northern border for 2 centuries, now we slap our Canadian brother's right across the face. Closing the borders will not stop terrorists, they travel using public airlines and carry valid paperwork. Increased border security can't stop that.

i think of that we could desire to consistently stay and combat, besides the shown fact that i do no longer choose to verify yet another Vietnam. i'm no longer touching on a lose, as a results of fact I have not have been given any doubt that we could win if we stayed. i'm touching on how the yank public did no longer help or appreciate defense force human beings. i replaced into in a type 2 years in the past with a new child that reported our troops have been doing no longer something distinctive than the Nazi's. that form of crap infuriates me. At their worst the troops are doing their jobs and that's greater desirable than i can declare for a million/2 of the voters, and if anyone is responsible for our paying for and promoting blood for oil it is each and every citizen that relies upon upon petroleum product. The troops are purely protecting our way of existence, and it is our fault that oil is area of it. Sorry proper to the Tangent. i do no longer basically like the present president, yet desire that he has the country's perfect intrest at heart, and that he lives out his term, as a results of fact Biden is an obtrusive J@ck@ss without ethical fiber. If the Taliban is harming Pakistan then we could desire to consistently manage Pakistan so they are going to enable us to help them with their concern, and purge our straightforward enemy. If we are in a position to maintain our diplomatic ties with Pak that could desire to be large(dealing with them formally), in any different case we could desire to consistently do some Spec Ops and blow those $#!kers out of the mountains(the it on no account got here approximately form of Ops). i desire that we do what we could desire to to win Afghanistan it is democracy, yet while we could desire to pull out then so be it.

The Canadian-American border is the world's largest open border. How do you propose closing that?

I think that that is the best thing that we could possibly do. While we are at it why don't we start practicing a policy of isolationism and start focusing on this country and what we need to do to improve the lives of our citizens.

I'm confused. Why would we want to do that and why can't we track people better. The government sure knows where we are at tax time.
