i think they kicked the wrong person off a month ago.... the whole idol has become a sham. i like hard working musicians anyway.

As a 30-something watcher of IDOL, I was saddened that Melinda was ousted, but not surprised; She is amazing singer with loads of talent. However, younger females cast a majority of the vote, so Melinda never had a fighting chance. Right now it is popularity contest. Talent was voted out way before Sanjaya was. This has been an awful season.

I totally agree, although I do think they all did great Tuesday night, I think Blake should have went home. I love Jordin but didn't like her last song on Tuesday night and Blake did have a good night but previous nights he wasn't the best at all. I definitely didn't even think twice about Melinda, I thought there was NO doubt she would be in the finals, it was really a toss up between Jordin (who is my favorite) and Blake (who has the votes of a ton of teenage girls), but I definitely did not expect Melinda! =(

YES!!Blake should have gone home! However,the show is no longer about singing and talent---its a freakin popularity show--face it!How else do you explain some of the great singers that have gone home,and barely there singers who have stayed?Stephanie,Gina,and now Melinda have all gone home.And who gets to stay---Blake--who does the same thing everytime he sings a song!Its both annoying and boring!This season has been CRAP!!I wouldnt blame Simon a bit,if he doesn't come back---without him the show is nothing,and will go to hell!

I don't...isn't this by votes...Blake appeals more to the younger teen crowd, which is the majority demographic for this show's audience.
Read this blog on Yahoo that explains this and how Blake recieved more searches than Melinda, and most of his were from younger crowds.

No I don't think so. At this point all these contestants will get good contracts, so it just doesn't matter that much to their future. But, to get America's votes you gotta have personality and Melinda just didn't show it, although she could sing up a storm.

American Idol has really gone downhill this year. Everyone kind of stank. No one at my school has been watching, or caring. Everyone just watches house, which is actually a good show.

No, Melinda could only sing in one genera, we already have you of those in Fantasia. We need a new fresh face and voice like Blake! Plus he is super hot!
