Personally,
it can only be a burden in 2 situations:
if you let Love of others matter more in circumstances when self-love should be prioritized.
or if you let self-love get in the way when the time & place call for selflessness.
it's always the balance between your Love for others & for yourself.. without it, everything else falters...
Apathy arises.

Love is only a burden when you're still holding on to your ego --

She smiles that special smile at you from her comfortable chair across the room, computer on her lap. She's asking for a bit of love, you know she wants a cola from the fridge. You get it for her, but how do you feel? Is it joy and delight to demonstrate your love in this small way, or is it a burden that fills you with resentment? The former is love; the latter, ego.

Perhaps love comes in different sizes? Or degrees? "I love my old shoes" vs. "God so loved the world"?

I believe love can certainly be a burden when you have lost love. The old saying" It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all." I disagree. You can't miss what you have never experienced. To know love and then lose it is, in my case, a lifelong hurt.

When love becomes a burden, then in my opinion, its not love anymore, but obligation.

Love is the wings given to our hearts to fly out of the burdens of life when it stops flying we get the pain of love without its sweetness then instead of giving freedom to our souls it puts our souls in an endless dilemma

Love only becomes a burden if you let it. That's my belief, anyway.

When You love someone that is self destructive....who blows everything up, his relationship, his family, his life because of an addiction. You love them but the burden of what they have done to you and themselves is almost unbearable.

nope. love shouldnt be seen as a burden. its your choice to fall in love. hence, considering it as a burden is not apt.you dont love for the sake of loving nor does anyone ask you to. love is about giving.=)
