By jumping of a bridge on to the motorway.
And you saw them, How would you react,
Would you panic or would you call for help
or could your try and sort the situation out
yourself.

PS: And if i do succeed in saving their
lives, I would became their friend,
so if they every wanted some one to
talk to, they can always talk to me.
That would give them some sort of
comfort.

All three of the above.
Edit: Hey. Surely I don't deserve a thumbs down! I said it flippantly but meant it sincerely - I'd probably panic for a few seconds, but then do the other two.

Sometimes what you do just might help, sometimes things may turn out wayyy to complicated.
What you can do is not think of the outcome and just try and listen to the person if he talks . Cos most people just want somebody to listen to them and nothing else.
Maybe the day you talk to or listen to him rather he just might let go off the idea, but might be there the next day due to the same pressures as yesterday.
But it just might go the other way too , and you just might save a life.
What i would advise is that you better take your time in listening or talking to the person and not rush him to a decesion, and just remind him that there always somebody to live for,if not some other person but for oneself.

I have had quite a bit of experience in dealing with people trying to commit suicide, it's not an easy thing to do, and 99% of the time they don't want to die, they just feel they are alone, and need to talk, they feel sometimes that they are the only ones with a problem, why because people often turn their backs on them, if they really wanted to die, they would and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, but in answer to your question i would do as much as i could to stop them

Talk to them - but do not make a big issue out of it - try to act normally - they are usually after a reaction - want attention etc., cry for help. If someone wants to commit suicide they will succeed - so it will not matter if you talk to them or not - if you get what I am trying to say - and yes I would call the authorities - they are trained in this sort of thing.

Staying far from the person I would quietly call the police. Staying far from the person I would give them the opportunity to talk to me.
I would let the person know 'I am here for you' even if not speaking.
I would be thinking about the drivers beneath who are unaware they could be killed if the person jumped onto a mororway.

It depends on whether the bridge was over water, or over another lane of traffic.
If the jumper is over water, I'd continue on my way. A person should be able to end their life at a time of their own choosing.
Now, if the jumper is over traffic, that is another story. Endangering other people who enjoy living as long as possible in order for the jumper to come to his end is not acceptable. I'd do everything I could to get him off of that overpass because if I was happy motorist driving below, I'd want someone to do the same for me.

I would probably try to stop traffic first, call for help second, then attempt to resolve the situation. I don't think I would try to talk the person down. Perhaps put something underneath to break the fall? Who knows. It depends on the surroundings.

like every thing i would handle it myself.i would not call the police at all, they are not trained to be doctors, they would simply lock the guy in a cell for the night..i would call an ambulance then the person could get proper psychiatric help.

I wouldn't panic -- the Psych major in me would activate and I'd go up and talk to them. I would try to talk them down first, then see if someone else would call the cops in to help.

If I was close enough to talk to them I would. I'd help If I could. No doubt my heart would be racing and would probably suffer a little shock afterwards.
