OK, I'm a liberal, but, you really have to wonder how incredibly insipid and narrow minded our democratic leaders can be! Global warming requires addresing, BUT NOT IN THE SENSE OF DEFENSE SPENDING.

Osama, below, OK, maybe a real and tangible threat, but there is NO military solution here, just, a political solution. You don't hire a cop or soldier to get a neighbor to use new fuel sources!

You act like this is the first Congress to attach issues to other issues to try to ensure that they pass through.
EVERY Congress does that. EVERY SINGLE ONE. That's how the members of Congress ensure votes, by attaching legislation to other, unlrelated pieces of legislation. That's the way the game is played.
Defense spending is not some sacred cow; it's an issue like any other. If we weren't at war, I daresay no one would care WHAT it was attached to.
And the Dems aren't blocking defense spending. They're simply refusing to continue funding the war under the current circumstances. There is still a defense budget. They're just trying to deny increases to that budget unless something is done to make the war more efficient. Otherwise, we're wasting money.
