How can Melinda be voted off??? Clearlt this shows it is a popularity contest and NOT a singing competion. Anyways congrats to Blake and Jordin. Well the next Idol should be... Jordin without any doubts. Think I'm right?

she wasn't voted off.... she just didn't get ENOUGH votes... and from what I hear.... she was WAY behind jordin and blake... I think Jordin will do better in sales.... but Blake has got something different that people seem to dig.
I love Melinda's vocals... but she just don't have a personality ... she needs to work on that .... and let that humble act go. That is the reason she did not win over the fans.

The last 2 standing have worked very hard to be there.You are so right when you said that now it is (not) a singing contest any longer. But don't count Melinda out just yet...she will be going on the big Idol Tour and her fans will get to see her and hear her sing.And just like Elliot did she will be offered a recording contract and she will take off like a rocket.

It is joke, a popularity contest and Melinda should sue them for saying it is a singing competition. If this were the case she clearly would have won it. This is the first season I have ever watched it, and it will be my last. It is poorly run and there should be some method of voting to allow someone talented to win. If they can't fix it, then it will remain flawed and they should go off the air, or at least add a disclaimer that this show is not based on talent, but on popularity.

It is what it is. The one, regardless, with the most votes is the winner. It has been a popularity contest, but can you expect anymore? I wouldn't cuz you're gonna be disappointed. To me if they make it to the top 5, then it doesnt matter who wins, cuz I believe they deserve to be there, and basically from that point on it does become a popularity event. Look at Taylor Hicks. His cd has only sold about 700,000 copies, compared to Chris Daughtry, who has sold millions and left the show as number 4 left. What does that tell you? Its a coin toss, but I enjoy watching the show every year and I vote, every year. I'm 55 years old, so it ain't all young'ins.

Im not going to watch AI anymore for sure i was led to believe like most of you that it was a singing competition and i thought americans knew how to appreciate real musical talent,now i believe it is a popularity contest more than anything else so as long teeny boppers make up a huge percentage of AI voters then sad to say it is going to be a popularity contest through and through,in my opinion the integrity of AI has plummet down the drain,never again.

I agree, that's what it is these days. look at Ruben and he won, his voice sounds like velvet, like the late Luther vandross. but back than they did not care about him Benin big he had the voice, but now i think their a younger crowd looking at the idol and they cannot relate to the older style of music, People have to vote of all ages, the teenybopper and teenager put Jordan and Blake in the finals,and to the young that's what it's all about popularity. Blake might take this win because they are looking for something different and he has the beat box, but if the crowned is tried of the popping of his lips that sound like rap, than Jordan has a good chance of wining.

melinda and jordin should have stayed while blake should have been voted off 2 weeks ago. He is not that great of a singer.

obviously it is more than just a singing contest so what Melinda had a good voice she had no neck who is going to buy records with her shrek like face on it and fricken heck Jordan is a manly man she is massive and when her singing career fails she could aways make it as a drag queen,Blake is the best he is cute and is a beatboxing phenomenon he has 2 win
