So i recently got a pack and play for my daughter. Im not due for another 7 weeks but anyways....I'm not sure if my cat thinks all the baby stuff is for him or hes just getting jealous....the asshole cat decided he was gonna piss in the pack and play-
I don't know if the company "graco" just screwed up and didn't make it easy for someone to wash it or what but i don't know how to go about cleaning it. Its not something that can just go into the washer. any advice?

My cat did the same thing in our cradle- we threw it out- it was very gross and there was no way I wanted to put a new born in it- sad, though, I was hoping to use it! ( I was equally mad as well)

One of my cats started to pee on my baby's little fold out couch or different items if they were left out. I found that I had to keep everything for my son locked away from the cat. I gave up on the couch after I had cleaned it several times even using special sprays that are meant to remove the urine odor from cats so that they do not keep going back to the same spot... With the pack and play, first, I would try to get some of the cat urine removal spray from the pet store and after you apply that, I would hand scrub the mattress with bleach if it is covered in vynil. They make nets that you can put over the top of the pack and play to keep pets outs. Also would be good to keep bugs out if you wanted to take baby outside in it... Good luck!

I have 2 pack and plays that I use for my daycare. Generally I just use Lysol sanitizing wipes to clean them. We have cats and if one of them did urinate in one of the Pack and Plays, I would clean it like this. First, I would use a paper towel to wipe up as much of the wetness as I could. Then, I would use some soapy water, made with a little dish soap, and a rag to wipe the mattress down. Then rinse well with clear water. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of household bleach to 2 1/2 cups of water in a spray bottle then spray the entire mattress with the bleach spray to sanitize it. (Just as a note, the ratio of sanitizing with bleach is 1 tablespoon bleach to 1 gallon of water). Rinse with water and a rag, let it air dry. Lastly, I would lay the mattress out in the sun for awhile to help get rid of any remaining urine smell and to further sanitize it. Sometimes cats naturally like to "mark" new things. My daughter and son-in-law had a baby on April 15 and they have 2 dogs. We found several websites with good information about how to introduce a new baby to pets. We just searched "new baby and pets" and got lots of hits.

I read in The Book Baby Bargins that a good way to clean things like strollers, pack and plays, etc. is to take it to a manual car wash. Use the pressure washer and the soap function and get all the grim off of it. Then it can air dry...outside makes it faster. And they also said that if you take a bit of detergent and use that prior to the pressure washer it will be a good clean also!

Graco recommends using warm water and detergent, but to get the urine smell out, the above link gives a couple ideas. Good luck!!also, to further prevent the cat from peeing in the pack and play, you can lay tin foil over the mattress, and the cat wont pee on it.
