Look, I'm not stating my opinion on the man one way or the other- I am too ignorant to formulate one. BUT, are Republicans really abashedly seeking the solace of studying their shoes while hoping for the next Great Leader? Are they in a panic?
And will we finally be allowed to teach evolution as the best theory we have available?

Dear Dan K,
I was taught Evolution as the best we have, not fact.
The word "theory" does have two different meanings (at least) in scientific circles.
What you refer to, the "proven", absolute idea, is a Law, and theories have yet to become Law.
Well, there are some theories that are accepted, because the studies based on hypotheses have shown a statistically significant predictability.
Now, based on the notion of Chaos Theory, we can never get 100% of the same result, because SOMEthing will vary even by a hair's breadth, and therefore, we cannot establish laws on some things.
The past is even harder to record- although there are records in terms of physical evidence. So, you're right, and yet, in light of the impossibility of your approach, I have ought but to accept the theory as the best we have.

No, we will most likely not stop hearing about Intelligent Design and Creationism. While Jerry Falwell was one of the prominent persons who support these theories there are other people out there who share these beliefs. Most likely someone else will step up and take Falwell's place as a spokesperson for the groups that wish to promote these ideas.

As a Conservative I won't miss Jerry, never payed any attention to him or gave him any support. If evolution were only taught as a theory and not as accepted fact with no opposing point of view offered, I would be fine with that. The Darwinians insist however that this Victorian era myth if either the truth, the closest thing to the truth, the truth we don't have the science to prove yet, or is somehow superior to all other explanations of our origins. Rather than just admitting that Darwin is far from proven, that we really don't know how the universe, man , and other life was created, the adherents to the Darwin myth continue to stifle debate on this issue. It is the same as arguing with the Taliban as to question the true believers of Darwin. I don't have that level of faith needed in order to believe that I am a direct result of single cell animals transforming into monkeys and then finally man.

It is very rare that anyone refers to evolution as a theory. It is often taught as fact and those who do not accept it as being morons. Well, I am a moron! A theory is an unproved assumption. I won't force you to believe that God created everything in 6 days and quite frankly I do not want the government teaching religion in any form. I would be happy if evolution were mentioned as a theory and not taught as a religion or fact. I really do not see what this theory has done to help society or anything else.

Evolution isn't the best theory, it is the only theory. Scientifically speaking, evolution is a theory, which means it is supported by evidence, observation, and experimentation, while holding up to the scrutiny of falsification. Creationism is a hypothesis at best, but not a theory. People who hold creationism as a theory, or don't accept evolution, are either ignorant to the science, or don't accept science.
There is such an ingrained population of evangelicals in the Republican party, that one person dying won't change that.

All this searching for "the one great leader" is nothing more than the stage being set to receive the Antichrist, who is about to step onto the world's stage.
The One Great Leader already came 2000 years ago, and he said "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." John 5.43.
Republicans are helping bring the Antichrist; and come he must to fulfill prophecy.
Because they actually think a mere man can solve the problems of this world.
God doesn't take lightly to his Son being rejected or "replaced" by a man who doesn't know enough to come in out of the rain.
Yes, they are in a panic because they look to a man to help them.
I think they could teach evolution all they want, it doesn't change what God said.
The Bible already says all what will take place.
Evolution is still without its transitional fossils and even the evolutionist's god Darwin said the eye could not have evolved, it is too amazing and complex an organ.
But let them teach evolution, it doesn't change anything, the world is still getting worse and worse.

To me I find it much easier to believe in God, and have experienced him in my life.I can't relate to a fish turning into a lizard, turning into a dinosaur of something else, then into a monkey,or ape, then a man to me that makes about as much sense as the big bang theory!I am not a republican or democrat I vote for the lesser of the two evils campaigning! What do you mean finally teach evolution!?

WHY is it the best theory? Because it matches you beliefs, just like creationism match many conservatives beliefs. Funny how they still can prove the theory or find the missing link. Just think, we have 100's of different dinosaurs bones that are millions of years old that we can put together a make a picture of, but we can't find a prove seamless link of man over the last 100,000. HMMM....

No. Just because he's gone doesn't mean that the truth won't still win out. As far as the best theory available, Evilution hardly meets that description.
