I want to go on vacation with my family (5-7 days) domestically in the United States. Last year we went to Disney World, but this year I want to do something different- see new places.
Can you guys help out?

Whatever you do, don't take your family to Vegas. It's not made for kids and you won't be having any fun. Don't get me wrong, I love the place. But it's made for adults and you would be subjecting your kids to a lot of negative images.

It would help to know where you are coming from, as it's often easier to stay closer to home for such a short vacation. As pointed out, Hawaii is always a winner. You could easily do Washington DC, that is fun for the entire family. There are some great places to go to, but without knowing what part of the country you are at it's hard to tell you the special little places to visit.

When I was about 11 or so, my parents took me to Chicago. It was a lot of walking and seeing sights and dining out and shopping. Things like the Sears Tower and dad pointed out the sculptures around downtown and told me history. When I went later in life I went to the Brookfield Zoo. Awesome.

I would recommend upstate New York, like Lake George, or Massachusetts, the Boston area, or Cape Cod.

I've always wanted to see Ol' Faithful.

Washington DC is cool too with all of the monuments, memorials, etc.
