It may or may not. You should actually be getting the shot DURING your menstrual period because that way your doctor will know for sure you're not pregnant, and it will be immediately effective. (as a side note, my period stopped within 12 hours of my first shot)
Just be aware that while MANY women experience complete cessation within 12 months of taking the shot, one of the more annoying side effects is irregular bleeding.

I had a sister that got the Depo shot and their first month or so, she heavily spotted the entire month and she gained 30 lbs after being on it for a while. It depends on the person, some people have a positive experience with it, some don't.
But I wouldn't recommend that shot, bad bad bad....

in all honesty. depo is suppose to stop ur periods and is suppose to be more effective to taking the pills cause its liek afew times a year. but personally i had a bad experience with it. i had my period for 6 mth never stoped. it was horrible. iwas cryin, scared, tired. just plain out unhealthy. and u know what all my doc said was okay. i'll give u the shot early. it varys on people. but ive herd lots of negatives. and u know what else. my periods are still messed up meaning i very rarely get them. ive been tryin to get preganant, guess what its been lots of trouble. reserch alot. in my mind dont go ahead with it. i dont think its safe

the provera shot has two results:bringing a period or stoping it.
so if u r suffering from close periods ,the provera should help u have regular ones and vice versa

You are supposed to get your first Depo shot during your period to ensure that you are not pregnant.

More than likely it will stop your cycle. I was told by my OBGYN that depo works faster the more fat cells you have. If the shot does not stop your cycle, it will reduce it to spotting, if that.

It could, but probably not. Depo prevents you from ovulating, but you probably already ovulated this cycle. Your uterine lining already built up. It's more likely to affect your next cycle.

Probably not because blood will have already built up by now so you will probably have to suffer just one more period.

It may stop your period or cause you to bleed for several weeks.
There are so many side affects I would not take it.
