I failed my 1 hour test and I have to take my 3 hour test tomorrow morning, and I was just wondering if when you are fasting are you allowed to drink water? I get very thirsty and I love to drink ice water. I can't imagine not being able to drink it. I had to take this test when I was pregnant with my daughter but I don't remember if I was allowed to drink water.

I don't want to know if I can drink water during the test I want to know if I can drink water the night before. I know that I can't eat anything but can I drink just plain water?

You can drink water at any time before and during the test. Bring a huge bottle of cold water. It also helps to put the cold bottle against the back of your neck if you feel a little dizzy from fasting and the sugar drink. I don't know if it was the reason, but drinking water after I downed the sugar drink kept me from any queasiness from the glucose. BTW, I failed my one-hour test but passed my three-hour test. Good luck. It's not too bad. Boredom is your worst enemy at this test. And bring a snack (something non-sugary...you won't want anything sweet) for afterwards...you'll be starving.

I got so incredibly sick during this 3 hour test oh my goodness. I ended up missing 2 meals and a snack so my body was really weak. After the first two hours, before the last test I asked if I could have something to drink and the nurse said I could have a few sips of water, so I did. The results came in, the first tests were fine but the last one was spiked... they wanted me to do it again. Couldn't figure out why but apparently the water effected my test!

I also had to take that test, and I was not allowed any water. I hated those tests- I had 3 of them during 1 pregnancy. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow!

My wife had to do this test when she was pregnant. She was able to drink water, but that was all. She also had to stay in the testing lab until the test was over. The only walking she was allowed to do was to go to the bathroom in the lab.

I wasn't allowed to but I think all places have different rules. I was allowed to leave in between blood drawings but my friend who went to a different place had to stay the whole 3 hours so I think it just depends on the facility.
