the Ready and Alarm LCD lights are blinking and I find out that the machine had a paper jam. I removed the paper but the lights are still blinking. I cannot print and I cannot reset the printer. Any ideas?

you have a paper jam.... read your manual

there are two places you have to look at, front and back

Front
Remove the drum and check to see if there is any paper jammed there remove.... jammed paper

Back
There is a little door at the back, lift and pull up and check for jammed paper, be sure to check you close the door proper,

Paper drawer holder
Make sure the paper size slider is up tight against the stored paper.

if you have not got a manual for the printer you can download one from brothers website

this happens with my printer, although its a different make. I just take the paper out and then press OK on the front panel. Alternately unplug the printer from the mains power supply to reset it. Then plug back in and turn on.
