Should the redsox have Papelbon as a starter like they had planned before the season started?

They could use Tavarez as a relief and Lester as a set up, then bring Okajima in to close?

No because he does not want to be a starter, in spring training they tried to make him a starter and were working him into the position and he told them team he wanted to be the closer. I think he should be the closer, he works great out of the bullpen, he is dominent as a closer, and why mess with something that is working so good? I think he is suited better as a closer then starter.

they ought to create a sparkling position call for Papelbon instead of "closer". If Francona became smart, he might want to convey Papelbon in for the period of any inning overdue contained in the game at the same time as the Sox rather want help, because he can get out of any mission comfortably. I unquestionably have considered him are available in the course of the eighth with 2 or 3 runners on base and mow down the competition, then sit contained in the ninth, and that i have been rather satisfied to work out that. If that needs to happen contained in the sixth or seventh to save the game from slipping away, i does no longer be hostile. instead of "closer", possibly call him "hero"! He could absolutely be the emergency guy when we need help, and by no potential the starter. the authentic situation we've is that we replaced his rotation spot with Tavarez. That guy is carefully ineffective, he should be despatched to unmarried-A yet he's Francona's chum so he will continuously be taking area in a key position, and that is rather unlucky.

If he continues to close, Pap's arm will be back in a sling by late August.

I must admit I'd like to see him pitch more but it's good to know he's fresh when we need a save or a hold. 26 wins isn't bad....the national leagues best is 25

It is obvious why you are sitting at your computer asking stupid questions and not in the front office of a MLB teams front office making rational decisions.

You never blow up your bull pen to get a fifth starter. They already have a solid rotation.
