If this person is REALLY a friend,AND you CARE about her do this. One Saturday take her somewhere where there are either homeless people or to the salvation army, or somewhere where there are people that are down and out and have nothing. Spend the day doing things to help someone else that is in need.
It is impossible for her to think about someone else and to think about herself at the same time. It will get her "out" of herself. Whenever I get the 'poor me' attitude, I do this.
Also, the reward you will receive for this random act of kindness is immense!!!

Hun, I feel like kicking a ton of peoples' as&es.. but self control has taught me to refrain from violent behavior.. lol Not that I'm a violent person.. But yeah.. I can totally relate.. When someone is complaining, having their little pity party, I just want to jump up and tell them how ridiculous they are. If you are good enough friends that you can be catty to her about it, then go for it.. I love making snide remarks, jokingly, but really mean it... Hey.. it makes me feel better. lol

Some people think the world is absolutely a terrible place. If you hang out with them too much, they start to rub off on you...not you on them.
Do not walk away from her...run! Life is too short to let her drag you down.
Funny...a lot of these answers look like they come from compliners...especially that rant from "Shut your mouth"

That is very irritating for someone to always be negative and complaining and nobody wants to hear it all the time. Tell her to listen to herself and let her know people will avoid her if she's always complaining. Maybe she needs to work on her self esteem.

*I have one of those...lol.
.We all call her an "attention whore".
.The girl I know does the same exact crap...all she does is bi*** and complain about her life, or how she can't do anything right, and how she can't get a boyfriend, and why she has low self-esteem...BLAH BLAH fu**in blah!!!!
.You know what I do whenever she starts to bi*** about anything.....I just say something like this:
."You know what...you have a ton of sh**, your parents bought you another car, your mom puts gas in your car, you live on your own, you have 2 jobs (so you make decent money), all the clothes you own are name brand...SO really you have NOTHING to bi*** about AT ALL...so SHUT UP about it.!!!."
Then I tell her:
"There are so many other people in this world who have it worse than you THINK you do. There are people who have no homes, whose parents abandoned them, people who are in foster care, people who have no food to eat ETC>....so now tell me......DO YOU REALLY HAVE ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT NOW??!!~~"
.Then of course she replies and says: "No, I guess not."
.Then I tell her: "That's what I thought, so quit your bitching and quit taking all the sh** you have for granted."
....UGH>..yeah I do feel like kickin her a** once in awhile.
.It's almost as bad as when rich people bi*** and complain about how hard their lives are.....LAME...it irritates the hell out of me!!

Yes, I feel like that around people that complain 24/7 because it brings me down with them! Surround yourself with positive people : ] : ]

I used to work with someone like that. I changed shifts so I wouldn't have to deal with him. I don't know how you can knock some sense into her, some people are just that way.

Tell her you can't hang around negativity anymore, you are focused on the positive things in life and leave her right where she stands........or better yet point her in the direction of a therapist who can better deal with her depression.

I actually did that about 11 years ago to a guy who just wouldn't shut up. If I could relive that experience, I would not do it again. It was very improper.

You don't know how many times my sisters argue over NOTHING. They're 12 and 14 and they can't go a single day without arguing over SOMETHING. Sometimes I just wanna bash their heads together and shout "WORK IT OUT, RETARDS!"
