More individual rights. Less govermental control over personal lives. Seperation of Church and State/freedom of religion/freedom from religion. Fiscal responsibility. Emancipation Proclomation. Staying loyal to the constituion.
Lincoln wasn't perfect and had his flaws, but this is what the republican party is supposed to be about. And today, it seems like its been hijacked by a bunch of right wing ideologues.
Are their any TRUE traditional republicans here that feels today's party advocated policies against everything it stands for?

They discuss how they were going to split the Democrats with the abortion issue, as Gov, Bush Sr. supported abortion. As president, they tried to unify their anti abortion stance and let the Dems falter. They themselves don't really care about pro or anti abortion. Divide and conquer still works folks, and there are many even on YA that are doing so today. Know your enemy.

those aspects of the party broke away by the years. dissimilar it became in the course of the Civil Rights era at the same time as the south became ruled by technique of the Democrats in large area. The south became rather racist and the Democratic party became helping civil rights, so the racist ingredient of the Democratic Partie, the Dixiecrats left the party and became Republicans. because of this the activities are damaged up mostly by technique of region now with the GOP dependent contained in the south, and Democrats truly everywhere else.

A greedy power hungry Vice President came into office with a Dumb Front Man with a name and little else. There is an agenda with the present administration that has nothing to do with political affiliation and true beliefs. It has to do with money, power, deception, control, etc. I think that the citizens are finally understanding the issues and are ready to find someone that cares to go back to traditional beliefs. Republican or Democrat.

The last batch of republicans abandoned ALL of those values and started acting like Democrats, which is why the voters tossed them out of office last november.
