How can I get rid of a bump in the carpet. It's about 12 inches from the wall in a doorway between the living room and dining room. Is this something I could do myself, or do I need to call a pro?

The carpet will need to be stretched and trimmed. If it is close to a wall that makes it easier than if it were in the middle of the room. They sell carpet stretching tools at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. However, if it is stretched in the wrong direction and a gap is left or it is trimmed wrong it can look pretty bad. It is possible to do yourself, but a pro can do a better job. Final decision is your's.

You will have to stretch the carpet out. You will have to decide which direction it needs to be pulled from. Pull the carpet up at the edge of the wall. If there is a runner along the edge remove the whole length of it, pull up the edge of the carpet till it is free of the tack strips stretch it till the bump is gone, take a razor knife and trim off the exess. put the carpet back down and replace the runner. If your not comfortable doing it yourself I would call a carpet place. Shouldn't be too expensive to get done and would only take about 30 minutes or so for an experienced pro.

Difficult to do yourself. Is it an old carpet? If so you may want to invest in new carpeting. If it is new, when was it installed? Maybe the company that installed it can come back out and fix it for you. I am not sure how you would be able to fix it yourself except maybe lift it up and put some adhesive under the problem area or get some carpet tacks and tack it down. I have wood floors, sorry. (They are another problem altogether). Good luck!

call a carpet person, it wont be that much to do. If you are up for it you need to pull all the tacks out of it and smooth it out. you need a carpet licker for the next part and a razor, and a carpet stapler. Its cheaper to have a local guy do it for like 50 to 100 bucks

You need to get your carpet streched. Home Depot and Lowes can I believe, also check carpet/flooring stores.
