Ubuntu can provide one of the most friendly user experiences among all the Linux distributions. It has an "in-Windows" installation that allows you to try it without jeopardizing your system. And it has behind it a very helpful and comprehensive community of support on the forums. Usually, when you run into a problem, someone else has already made a thread about it.
