How come Simon constantly critisized everyone else for singing old or outdtaed songs but never once said anything to Melinda. Yes she's a good singer but no she is not a contemporary artist. She could be in a great Tina Turner cover band!

Melinda has talent, and she can sing anything in my opinion, and that is what Simon favored.
BTW, this is a SOAP OPERA forum. If you posted in the REALITY SHOWS catergory, you are bound to get more responses.

melinda happens to pick songs that were appropriate for herself. i agree that most if not all her songs were older or outdated, but being the oldest one there and with her voice sounding more like an old-soul, she really did sing those songs well. had jordin (who's about 10 years younger than melinda) sing the same songs, it would not be fitting because jordin's so much younger and she does not have that same old-soul voice.

The search is for THE best vocalist, and Melinda's got that.
And she never screwed up and could adapt to any music genre.

Melinda has the best voice. The judges recognized that from the beginnin. Where does it say you have to be a contemporary artist?
She'll have a better career than Jordin or Blake. Jordin couldn't begin to sing as well as Melinda did.

She will excel in R&B and maybe Gospel, but she is not 'pop' or mainstream. She just isn't that marketable. Blake and Jordan are more commercial and marketable in the mainstream.
