I enjoy the old Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Clark, Mercedes Lackey - just to give you an idea of what I like. Anyway, when I find one that I enjoy I read everything they have and then am stuck looking for someone new to enjoy until the others come out with something new. Does anyone have any suggestions of someone that I might like.

Well, Mercedes Lackey is in a pretty different genre than the rest. It also happens to be my favorite genre, so here's a list of some of what's on my bookshelf for Fantasy (believe me, you don't want the whole list - it's huge):

Anne McCaffrey - Pern, or anything else
Robin McKinley - anything
David Eddings - anything
William Goldman - The Princess Bride (funny and quick read)
JRR Tolkien - Lord of the Rings Series
Tad Williams - Memory, Sorrow, & Thorn Series
Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time Series
David B Coe - Winds of the Forelands Series
George RR Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire Series (my current re-read)
Marion Zimmer Bradley - The Mists of Avalon
Michelle West - The Sun Sword Series
Sarah Douglass - Wayfarer Redemption Series
Sarah Douglass - Troy Game Series
Mickey Zucker Reichert - anything
Irene Radford - anything
Katherine Kerr - all of them
Robin Hobb - all
Elizabeth Haydon - all
Tara K Harper - Wolfwalker Series
Kate Forsyth - Witches of Eileanan Series
Kate Elliot - Crown of Stars Series
Anne Bishop - all

Well, if you like Stephen King's Dark Tower series, you may want to think about reading a bit of Tad Williams. He is a fantasy writer, but his work is at least on par with Tolkien, and he weaves a story as good as the Dark Tower by Stephen King. Tad Williams also writes a sci-fi fantasy series called Otherland that is very very good. I have only read the first one so far, but the book is amazing. I have actually read it three or four times, and it is no short little book. Terry Goodkind is also good. My tastes run a little more towards fantasy than just horror or mystery-ish novels, but I can assure you, if you like Stephen King, you will be able to get into these books. If you can get past how wordy it is and haven't read it already, I would also suggest reading The Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit). These books are classics and very good, and you will always be able to say that you read one of the greatest works of fantasy fiction ever written. Hmmmmm... let's see.... James Patterson is good.... Also, his new series Maximum Ride, is very good, but aimed at a younger audience. I like them though, very fast paced and he keeps it interesting. You can check it out a bit at :http://www.maximumride.com/. I also love Anne McCaffrey and Marion Zimmer Bradley. Both of these ladies write GREAT books, and there are quite a few to keep you reading. (After you get a look at how many Pern books there are, I'd just like to brag that I read over half of them, every one that my library had, in two or three weeks... :) I loved them so much... I should look for them to read again...) My favorite Marion Zimmer Bradley is her book, Hawk Mistress. All of the books in that series (I have read most of them) are very good. When you look for them, the first one is called Darkover Landfall. It is a short one, but very very good. There are many more great authors that I could suggest, but my books are still packed up from a recent move and I can't remember them all without checking the spines!!! Anyway, I've given you a few and I hope you check some of them out... Good Luck!

Stephen King's son came out with a book that is pretty good. It's also horror. The title is "Heart-Shaped Box" and he goes by the name Joe Hill. He has a website if you want to know more about the book.

I highly recommend Ted Dekker. The Black series is great, but also check out Thr3e and Blink. They're the kind of books you just can't wait to start reading again.
Also I don't know if you got into the whole DaVinci Code thing but Dan Brown's Angels and Demons is one of my favorite books :)

Have you ever read OG Mandino?
He is a fantastic story-teller, and a great Motivational writer!
Once you read "The Greatest Miracle in the World", you won't put down any of his Greatest series!
Another book that I liked a lot is called "The choice"!

If you like mysteries, how about some classics of the genre, like Agatha Christie or Ellory Queen? My sister really likes the "Prey" series of books by John Sandford.

I really liked "The Pilot's Wife" by Anita Shreve and her subsequent books.

Happy reading!
