how many of you know that melinda doolittle was sent home most likely because of her age and the people who vote idol want the young or cute guy there ; melinda ruled throughout the show weekly!

I agree with you.. this is a singing competition, based on your ability to sing. Melinda has a great voice and will definatley go a long way. As for Sanjaya he should have been voted off long before others and that just goes to prove there's alot more younger people voting - they're basing it on looks and to be honest with you there were a few American Idols in the past who did not have the LOOK!!!

I am saddened that she was kicked off. I don't think Blake is as talented at all. Jordan certainly belongs there. Maybe Melinda's image was not what the voters wanted. She seemed a bit older than the rest of the idols...that might have had something to do with it. I mean look how long it took for Sanjaya to get voted off. She did rule throughout. After last season I said I would not watch. And I still ended up watching and being disappointed. She will definitely get a record deal, but I really wanted to see her take it all. If Blake wins, I swear I will never watch the show again. Hopefully, this was not a race issue. Ugh

Melinda is a great singer, and lucky for her, she will do fine. She was doing pretty well before Idol and she'll do even better after it. I can't stand Blake but the young girls seem to like him, and they are the ones that take the time to vote, vote, vote. And I will admit that while she's the best singer/performer, she is probably not the whole package. She's older and her singing style is more mature, and she doesn't make the teenagers' heart quiver.
I really hope Jordin wins now, she has a wonderful voice, and she's beautiful.

Melinda isn't what Idol is really looking for. She isn't Idol material. She's gonna be one of the greats, but lets remember, most of the young kids are watching and their a little bored with Melinda. Atleast Blake has personality in his songs and he's good looking. Good for MTV stuff, that's what Idol is looking for [what ashame] and Jordin is fun a bubbly and silly, so yea, they like her, and she's pretty.
More of the older people would like Melinda, but im 14, I think Melinda is great..
but my votes go to Blake.

I agree with you a 100% it is the teeny boppers vote that will ultimately decide the winner of american idol and it would be that way for the coming seasons sad to say,its not really a singing competition as what the people behind AI want to portray it to be,it was clear as day melinda was far more superior than both when it comes to singing talent,i just dont agree with last nights decision.In my opinion AI is going to be more popular but its integrity would plummet down in as far as choosing the best singing talent

I think that people like to vote for the underdog. If they assumed that Melinda was a lock, then they would vote for their second favorite. I personally voted for both Melinda and Jordin. I would have loved to see a Melinda / Jordin showdown in the final.

Melinda is a good singer & a sweet girl, but she wasn't "Idol material". Jordin fits the bill better. A lot of folks didn't like Melinda cuz of her appearance.

Yes, she ruled the show, although, by the votes I guess the public would rather look at Jordin or Blake.
