I'm one month from turning sixty years of age and I have one question for you. Mr. Older and wiser, how do we disarm every single individual, terrorist, group, street gang, Nazi party member. Klulkux klan member, rogue element and government on the face of this planet??? The day you come up with the answer and carry it out. I will melt down my firearms. As long as man walks the Earth he will find new and more efficient ways to kill his fellow man. Someday, in the not to distant future. Guns will no longer be the main weapon used to commit crime. Advanced technology, like the kind we use every day, like microwave ovens and such, which by the way was invented by the Japanese for use as a weapon during WWII but disgarded because it took too much power to operate will also be used to harm others. Man is what he is. Because of this we have to protect ourselves from each other. Ahhh, civilization. Wild animals kill when they're hungry. Man kills because he likes to.

My very dear Sir, I understand what you're saying but try not to lose the one thing that drives all sane Humans and Animals -- Hope. Yes, there will always be idiots but we can still try to teach them right from wrong. There will probably be wars and things going south but if we give up we're no better than the people who lead us there in the first place.
It's not religion. It's faith in something better in ourselves. Just by going out of your house and smiling at people you *do* make a difference. You change someone else's life for the better. That small little bit of difference you make is still a difference.

Sort of like the beach full of starfish all washed up on shore for miles. A little boy was throwing back the ones he could while a grown up said to him "You'll never make a difference". The little boy threw back another and said to the grown up "Yes, but I made a difference to that one" and continued to gather starfish.

Don't lose hope. Please. Some "starfish" may be counting on you. Blessings.

I disagree with "man kills because he likes to", men kill for the same reasons animals kill, they're hungry. One egomaniac can be hungry for power, another for justice. Some people are hungry for money, others for control. Men still hunger, but it's for a different thing. There is seldom no motive in war.

Anyways though, you could disarm individuals mostly with gun control laws, like laws on the sale of them. Take Cho for instance, how he was allowed a firearm is beyond me, there should be checks in order for that. Also I realize most guns are stolen and then used, but really if you have a stolen gun, your *** belongs in jail longterm.

The biggest problem is advertising I think, guns are marketed for everyone in the USA, so lots of people have them, so you have the highest rate of gun crime anywhere on the planet per capita. That's creepy if you ask me. People need to have more faith in the system, that police can do their jobs when called to, that they're safe, rather than worrying about making themselves safe.

Oh and while I agree with countries having weapons for self protection, rules should be applied to that, like no large yield nukes, or no nukes at all. We should learn from mistakes that killing innocents is wrong, and that's all nuking accomplishes. We cannot punish the many for the acts of the few.

How can you disarm everyone? You can't. Why should I, a law abiding gun owner give up my guns because some a**hole kills innocent people? I'm not a member of the NRA but I have worked in law enforcement for a number of years. Criminals will get guns anyway they can. There will be no records showing the criminals possessing guns only law abiding citizens. You are not going to disarm me by any legal means.

Can you guarantee that when you take the guns away from the puplic that the criminals will turn their guns in also? Or is it a case where the law abiding citizens will be disarmed and the criminals will be allowed to keep their weapons. But alas!!! Since it would be a crime to have a weapon I am sure that the criminals would turn there weapons in also. Right ????

I am truly sorry, but it has been stated by the courts that it is not the job of the po-lice to protect the private individual, but the community as a whole. Protecting your own *** is YOUR job, not theirs. They just get there after the fact, take statements, and clean up any mess....
