Why would anyone want to be a "top contribuor?" It's not like we win anything when we get here and there's a lot of discrimination against "top contributors" and askers who absolutely will NOT award "best answer" to a "top contributor."
We do better in voting since the voters can't tell which answers come from "top contributors" and which do not!
I don't think they ever said exactly how many best answers you need in a category to be a "top contributor." I suspect it varies from category to category depending on how popular the category is. Just pick a category that you're good in and answer A LOT of questions in that category and you, too, can be a "top contributor" again. Go back to answering a lot of questions in the category you used to have your badge in.
It may take a week or two of answering a lot in a category so be patient, Rome wasn't built in a day.

No clue. I don't really understand the process to them, because some people will have a really high percentage of correct answers in one category and not get one. I think, as soon as I get one, you'll get yours back. Okay, really, I don't know...that was my sad attempt at being funny.

How did you get it? do you already know? Is it computerized or does somebody at Y!A supply it to you? If somebody supplies it to you, tell them to take it back. :) i think of orange is particularly. It brings out your eyes. :)

I had one for about 30 seconds when they first came out. We didn't really get the chance to bond, so I don't much miss it.
