Straight people don't have to go through a big process to get the entire country to approve the person THEY want to marry.
What makes us (straight people) so superior? Why do we deserve more rights than anyone else? Are we above reproach?
Right now, a straight serial killer has more rights (i.e., the right to marry the person he or she loves) than a gay person who's never had so much as a traffic ticket.
Why does that make sense????
And please, don't bother with the "A gay person has the right to marry a person of the opposite sex, just like a straight person" crap. I have the right to eat spinach, but because I hate spinach, I don't eat it.

FOS: The Bill of Rights is the name given to the first ten AMENDMENTS to the Constitution of the United States of America. It is not a "list of rights of American citizens." Further, the Constitution doesn't give you any rights; our rights are considered a birthright. The Constitution is a RESTRICTIVE document which limits the government's authority over the American people. Go to a civics class.

As for "shoving sexuality in everyone's face," if you can make an issue out of it in order to prevent someone from doing something, then YOU have made it the issue, not them.

It all has to do with Faith. Christians and pretty much every religion states that marriage is between a man and a woman, but you hear gay people saying that the bible says this and that, but also racist can use the bible and twist it to their own purpose......
In the big scope of things, I think we have much more problems to address in this failing nation than gay marriage. I mean really Gay people have a right to be unhappy just like the rest of everyone else. lol, let them......Personally my faith is between me and my god, not you, politicians, and the world.

In order to answer your question, I must first explain what marriage is and why it is important not to mess with it.
Marriage is an ideal. During the development of civilization, it was determined pretty much everywhere in the world that the union of one man and one woman bonded and sworn unto each other (to the exclusion of everyone else) guranteeing that any offspring were the result of this union only, was the best possible standard of behavior for an orderly society.
Many other combinations of genders and numbers of people are possible but they do not meet the ideal standard. People are free to live with whomever, to have sex with whomever, to produce babies with whomever all they want. But that does not meet the ideal standard.
Today we have homosexual men and women who wish to marry people of the same gender. That does not meet the ideal standard. Homosexual couples, no matter what fantastic people they both may be, they are not as good for the children as having their natural father and natural mother bonded together and caring for their own offspring.
The ideal standard is still the ideal standard. It should not be modified to suit the whims of modern society.
Your question as to what makes straight people so superior all I can say is this. If all else is equal and the only difference is sexual orientation, then one would have to say the one that is sexually dis-oriented is inferior.
Serial killers do not have more rights. They can only marry one person of the opposite sex same as everyone else. They cannot marry someone of the same sex, or multiple partners or a different species.
It is the homosexuals who are seeking a NEW right, one that never existed before. I reject the idea due to my explaination above.
There are 194 countries in the world. How many do you think allow marriage of multiple partners or same sex partners?

Oh, so a long time ago it was "decided" that a family/marriage should consistof one man and one woman?? And that was "best" for the children??
Most societies, from eons ago until the near past, allowed men to have more than one mate! How was that good for the numerous children?? "Marriage" equaling one man plus one woman is a relatively NEW idea.
Also, in the past, children were NOT all that important to society. They were used for labor, and not particularly cared for. So, the argument that marriage is the "ideal" (Are we talking Aristotle, now??)is flawed.
Love comes in all sizes, shapes, colors, sexes...and it is a gift from the Creator! Who are we to say who can or cannot choose to commit their lives to one another? And why should homosexuals, in a committed relationship, have less "rights" than any hetero couple. So what if one wants to cover the other on their insurance? Maybe one wantsw to stay home with the children--Oh, yes, homosexuals have children!! (And many that I know are exceptionally good parents--because they are well aware of what bias and discrimination can do to people, they are very tolerant and loving parents...)
How is gay marriage going to reduce the population? Do the people who say this think that if gay marriage is legalized everyone will suddenly opt for a same-sex relationship??? That's just plain silly!

Because it causes a consaverity. People of the world are nosey and like to be in everyone elses business, also since (I belive you are refereing to the US in the matter) Our country was founded on a "puritanical veiwpoint" even though there are many freedoms here.
People feel like they have the right to tell other people what is right and wrong.
Personallay to it seems that everyone is looking for something to condem or complain about becuase they have problems in their own life and they feel that they are justifed and rightous... but common sense will tell you everyone has a free will and if someone wants to join into a marriage with someone else who is anyone to begrudge them that?
Just beause someone is a homosexual does not mean I or anyone else who is not has to become one.
Homosexuals, as far as I know, don't go around saying to straight people you have to make the same choices that I make.
No one type of person is superior.
I am sure just as in the straight people community as well as the homosexual one, there are "smart people" and not so "smart" people.
The other thing is that people fear what they can't understand, somepeople don't know how to explain things to their childern- they don't sit down to think how would it really affect their lifes.
I know people who are gay and straight and, They are nice people so it affects my life in a postive way.
If I ment someone who was gay or straight and they were a real jerk, I woundn't make a friendship with them. I would wish them the best and get on with my life.

The only part of this issue that should be up for public debate are the points that touch on tax money. Accepting an entirely new class of married people would put a strain on an already strained Social Security System.
Social Security survivor benefits would increase. Also, if this new class of married people were allowed to file taxes jointly, there could be a big decrease in personal income taxes collected. This could put pressure on congress to increase taxes on the general public.
On a local level, there would be an increase in divorce cases that would require more local taxes for more judges and courtrooms.

I agree with you, it isn't anyone's business.
As is the status of a person's sexual orientation!!! WHY must you shove it in everyones face???? Enough!!
Back on point now. Some people have just chosen to make it their business because they want a scapegoat for the fact that straight Americans are more and more incapable of holding their own relationships together.
Understand this though; when you are married by a judge or other political official, it's a civil union, regardless of your sexual orientation.
Actual marriage is a religious matter, and regulated by that religion's laws.

Who has more rights? Gay people have the same right to get married. Marriage is DEFINED as a union between a man and a woman. Gays have the same right to marry someone of the opposite sex as everyone else.
With that said, I'm not opposed to legalizing same-sex civil unions with all of the legal benefits and responsibilities as marriage....it just can't be called marriage...by definition. Might as well call showers baptisms.

I agree with "I just wanna know" You are right, it is none of our business. However gays need to stop pushing their sexuality in our faces.
When will the heterosexuals be organizing a 'Straight Pride Parade'? "
I am sick and tired of gays pushing their gayness on everyone else, so your gay big deal keep it to yourself.
Why should gays be allowed to take part in "MY" Parade, St Patricks day you have your own gay parade, why do you need to invade everyone elses and FORCE YOUR OPINIONS on everyone else, I dont give a damn if your gay go and mince down the street on your own parade and leave ours alone, YOU INSULT MY BELIEFS by your constant attacking my beliefs, my beliefs are MARRIAGE is for a Man and a Woman to start a family to PHYSICALLY have children together NOTE the word physically, putting your ..... in someones elses REAR does not produce children. I repeat PHYSICALLY having children not by proxy gettting someone else to do it for you or by adopting.
Sick and tired of this gay crap everywhere.
