maybe???
I think the big problem is the popping and the cracking. I think it can be a good appetite suppressant and may be helpful for those who have late lunch hours, but some kids chew like a cow...and it's very distracting....

As a student... I say no.
I don't like the aspect of the whole school day revolving around gum. Maybe at lunch, but otherwise not during class.
There are too many disrespectful and irresponsible students that don't take the privilege seriously. If they want gum, they can wait until after school. They won't die without it. Honestly. The kids chew gum like a camel eating something. And the people chewing gum with their mouth open makes a very horrible noise. It's distracting. Therefore, I do not think gum should be allowed in schools.

I agree what you are trying to say if you mean they should be able to chew gum. The problem is schools do not want children chewing gum in school because they stick it under their desks and its a big distraction to other students because they chew with their mouth open. But i agree that they should be able to chew gum. But not like fruit flavored gum mint gum. I am very happy to help!

No. I've heard that chewing gum helps you think and remember things, but too many people are irresponsible with it. They smack it and leave it all over the place, under desks, on the floor, in someones hair. It's disgusting. Maybe if a certain teacher allowed gum for certain things, and the kids followed the rules, gum would be okay, as a study aid.

Yes. the good part is that I've read in a health magazine that when you are chewing a gum you help in pumping the blood up to your brain which helps you concentrate, the bad part is that the chewing gums usually end up sticked under the table, on the walls e.t.c

Well, I'm a student, and that might effect my answer, but... I think gum should be aloud. It's harmless, just a little distracting. There may be problems with people blowing bubbles or sticking gum to the bottom of the tables, but that already happens a lot at my school. only one month left though, then I get to go to our high school where you can chew gum! WOO-HOO! And it has been proven that gums helps you think better.

Yes! It is not murdering anyone and we aren't disturbing any property. They just think that kids will stick it and someone has to clean it up...so let the janitor do it! It is his job so really it doesn't make sense. I say we get some gum and chew it.

No. Most people are pretty much soundless when they chew gum and don't disturb anyone. Then you have the open mouth chewer, the snapper, the saliva loaded chewer, and the bubble blower. These four people make gum chewing disgusting and distracting.

No, kids shouldn't be allowed to eat gum in school.
Reason: Not everyone would put it in the bin once it's lost it's flavour...it would be spat out all over the playground and people would be constantly stepping in it.
Another reason, I wouldn't want to see everyone chewing like cows chew their cud.
Just my opinion. :-)
