Sure. I can buy that. The trick is figuring out what true religion actually is. Everybody says it is THEIR religion. Who do you believe? Ultimately, the answer may well be that we have to find our own true religion. There doesn't have to be one.

Most people who have ever lived have shown strong metaphysical beliefs. These are mutually exlusive with most other peoples strong metaphysical beliefs. Most people therefore have strong but incorrect metaphysical beliefs. People can then be said to have a tendency to form strong incorrect metaphysical beliefs. All religions are supported only by assertions passed down for generations by people which by previous definition have a tendency to develope such convictions in error. Given this, it would be logical to assume there is no true religion, and thus no freedom can be gained from religion, only lost in its departure from rationality.

What is this off topic posting doing in a social science string?

True religion is a BURDEN to man... for that matter... ANY RELIGION is a burden to man.

I would rather have a brain and no religion than a religion and no brain.

This off top posting really does belong in a religious string where it will be appreciated.

Yes, I totally agree with that. It's really a shame that more people can't realize this.
