Do you know how irritating it is? It seems like a such a simple thing, and YES, it's the servers job but NOT ONE restaurant is set up for it? (like nails on a blackboard)

OMG - I live in California and when it's anything less than 70 degrees, people order teas like crazy. It takes sooo long to get everything together. And hot chocolates and lattes? Forget about it. We have to get ours picked up at the bar and the bartenders get so nasty about making them!

the asker is asking from the server point of view... most restaurants are not set up for tea.. every place serves it but it actually a pain in the but to set it up.. and if you dont ask what the person wants with it and you bring everything except what the person wants. say they want honey.. and this particular restaurant doesnt serve breakfast you have to go searching everywhere for it! and then the owner makes a big deal out of charging for every tea bag that you bring out..... knowing the whole box only cost like $3. 4 cups served will cover it.. whats the big deal with letting a few bags slide here and there! and no place actually makes dishes that fit those little hot water tea things so no matter what you serve them on they slide all over.. or you can place them themselves down on the table and water gets everywhere!!! i drink tea A LOT!!! but as a server once my self i hate ordering it in places because i know what a pain in the butt it is!!!!! i give props to the servers who dont dump hot water on some people's heads!!!!!

I drink about five cups of tea a day and when I order from a restaurant the only thing that irritates me is when the hot water spills all over the table as it is beening poured into your cup. The other thing that really irritates me is when I get my tea to go. Some times the cups are not double cup and this burn's my hands. That really sucks!

I hated making hot tea too. It's not like pouring a cup of coffee. There was getting the cup, getting a plate, pouring water, getting the tea bag and lemon and arranging it on a plate... It was a pain.

Don't get me wrong, I love ordering hot tea at a restaurant! At least I don't have to prep it.

I hate it! Too many steps. Lemon or cream, the tea bag, water, cup, spoon. Ugh. And for the few people that have put the lemon and cream in there in case I forget to ask which they want. NO-The lemon makes it curdle!!!

I'm a little unsure what you mean about one restaurant being set up for it. You know what's worse though...ordering a cup of hot h2o, and they have their own tea bag!

The reason its a problem is because it's not a normal drink.

And it's quite annoying to a server to be asked for Hot Tea.

It takes a lot more work for your hot tea than it does for a soda.

I (and my daughter) order hot tea all the time, but only if it's listed on the menu. I like life to be simple :)
