The problem is many-fold. One issue is AIPAC lobby group. It is the second most influential one in Washington, this despite several cases of members passing confidential info to Israel! Actually, I read that many in Congress vote in support of Israel due to the lobby (AIPAC can make or break Congressional races) but don't support Israel personally and recongnize Israel's breaches of law. Most Congresspeople just care more about staying in office than justice.

A second force would be Evangelical right wing Christians. They misinterpret the Bible to say that Jews are still God's chosen and that the land promise was fulfilled in 1948, when the Bible doesn't say this at all. They also believe by sending Jews to Israel and supporting it, they are hastening the coming of Christ, which is also false. I am Christian and have studied these things an dI have scriptural proof that these guys are totally off the mark.

So I think the US has lost common sense like you say. Israel has violated international laws and even our Arms Export Control Act, the Geneva Convention, etc and we say nothing. We are quick to condemn Palestinians and disregard reforms they've made, but rarely say anything about Israel's widespread well known human rights abuses and disregard for international law.

I know that life in Palestine is difficult to the extreme. But the US would never support such of what you say. I have been to Palestine, and I have many friends there. I have worked hard helping people there, and it is very difficult to get something accomplished amid so much fighting. The problem is that on both sides, the Palestine and Israel, there are people determined to make sure that peace doesn't last. Maybe you don't participate in the attacks to Israeli communities, but there are some people that do, and after they attack Israelis, they go back to Palestine to hide among the beautiful and peaceful Palestinians that doesn't want to see any more fighting. Every attack on Israel, only gives reason to Israel to continue entering Palestinian Territory and attack Palestinians. All of that creates problems for us who are trying to help. There are so many beautiful Palestinian people who want peace. The children deserve an education, to prosper, to have a future. There is no future in fighting. Israel and Palestine have been fighting for so long, that both have forgotten what they are fighting for. Give Peace a Chance.

I feel very sorry that I can do nothing about this problem. I am leaving my comments to your posting to let you know that I, someone, do care. Your posting is one of the better postings on this public board. Most people who post here are common folk with common folk understanding about political problems and issues.

Keep reading Politics & Government and perhaps someone or many people will have their noses on the right issues.

Presently, most of the world, including people posting here are blind and truth is not with them. The American media does not publish all and sometimes important issues go unreported.

What you post above is very important to me and as an American I stand with you and will some day, perhaps, do everything that I can for justice in this world.

in this world (I am, also part-Chinese).

I have been awake for a very long time!

Ps: Most of the major and minor candidates for the office of the presidency are either cowards or blind. Also, money seems to buy everything and my family's money $600 million was taken from us, if not I would be there in Washington DC, UN, and other parts of the world making a difference for goodness and correct political change. I am better than Obama. I am more candid than Hillary.

I love your views on Palestine and I hope that you will work with me for political change. I am a SOMEBODY without any money at present.

Hmm, seems to me, the Palestinians are doing a pretty good job of terrorizing themselves already.

You have the supporters of the Palestinian Executive and the Palestinian legislature killing each other and innocent Palestinians daily.

Are you gonna blame that on Israel too ?

Hmmm, didn't Israel withdraw from Gaza ?

So why are they still being attacked from Gaza ??

Don't dismantle settlements and you get attacked.

Hmmm, dismantle settlements and you get attacked.

So it seems like Israel is gonna get attacked, no matter what they do.

Seems to me, every Palestinians family has had a member killed by other Palestinians also.

If you want peace, next time you might try not to elect a political party that only wants war with Israel and says there can be no peace.

You elected Hamas, now live with it !!!!!!!!!!!

The Western governments have lost their sense in this regard. Most of the serious international problems today are linked in some way to the Arab-Israeli conflict. The US is the one country that can influence Israel towards seeking a peacefull solution to this conflict but will not because of the Zionists who form a powerfull political block in the States

Yes and No. We are blind to the Israeli disregard of Palestinians, we also understand that Palestinians bring a lot of it upon themselves by trying to erase Israel from the world. Israel is our ally, so we must stick up for them even when we disagree with them. We had hoped that Israel ceding Gaza to palestinians would have alleviated the situation, however instead it brought the old axiom of "give an inch they'll take a mile" new life.

Sadly, it is blindness in several forms

- Not being able to see the humanity in others, or imagine how they themselves would react if living in a land occupied by foreigners who are allowed to kill them with virtual impunity
- being able to recognize "radical Islam" and, for example, attributing to its followers the goal of recreating the reign of the caliphs, but failing to notice radical Christianity (such as the believers in the apocalypse), or radical Judaism (such as so many who claim the Palestinian lands because God gave it to them or they were under Hebrew rule 2500 years ago),
- blindness brought on by one-sided western media, which radically under-reports Palestinian deaths at the hands of Israelis, including Israeli targetting of Palestinian civilians. Western media which constantly and unquestionly parrots the Israeli propoganda lines. There are too many examples of this to list.

yes most westerners could do with a lot more sense and critical thinking

When has the EU supported Israel?

Nations of the EU, the UK included have denounced the killing of civilians by the IDF.

In the UK, because of this, the BBC is seen as biased!

Just because the UK and other states in the EU does not back the murder of Israeli civilians, does not mean it is supporting Israel.

Maybe the PALs should stop bombing shopping centers and schools and launching Kassams into housing developments. That might help a little.
