What is the relative mertis and shortcimings of collision theory and transition state theory?

Collision theory has not had any shortcomings that I,ve heard of. The theory is proven by experimentation.

Transition state theory - I am aware that transition states can exist for infintisimal amounts of time, therefore true understanding must come from a lot of theory and little experimental evidence.

This is my own theory and I have no evidence to back it up.
