I have been charting my temps this cycle for the first time, my first full cycle. Well, today is cycle day 12 and I had a HUGE temperature dip. Does this mean I am about to ovulate or maybe I have already ovulated? Does it mean I am ovulating now? I read that temp dips mean ovulation but they dont explain much. Any insight would be nice. Some women show a temp dip the day before ovulation and others do not. If your temp stays up for 3 consecutive days then yes you ovulated but I know it can be frustrating because you want to make sure that you and your husband spend some alone time on the day of ovulation. Safe bet would be to have intercourse tonight and every other day until ovulation has occurred.

The first poster is wrong--ovulation does not happen 2 weeks after the start of your period--for some yes, but not for most women. Ovulation happens 10-16 days, with 14 being average, before the onset of your next period.
As for your question, the dip probably indicates ovulation but you will need to wait a few more days to be sure. The dip, which probaby won't happen every cycle, is caused by an estrogen surge right at ovulation. This will most likely be the day you ovulate. If your temp spikes tomorrow and stays up 3 consecutive days then you can be sure you ovulated when you saw the dip.

Ovulation occours two weeks after the first day of your period. Say you started your period on a friday, two fridays after you should start ovulating. This isn't just word of mouth, it happens with me. Hope this helps, and good luck in having a baby!

i actual used the solutions variety this pass round. It become rather precise... the purely difficulty that sucks is you've 30 days to apply all of those checks...and then they are no sturdy. So i wager in case you wished to attempt plenty to draw close precisely once you get your lh surge...its a sturdy difficulty.
