Ur not wrong for some reason ur friend has to bring up her russian heritage. You can be proud of where u come from with out having to shout it from the roof tops. That would annoy me too. I would ask her what's up with that?, and let her know how u feel.

I'd be annoyed too. What you could do is when you introduce her to someone, you could say, "This is my friend (whoever). She comes from a Russian background. She also bakes the best cookies in town.." or some other compliment. That way you have taken the opportunity to bring it up away from her, AND you've changed the subject.

Ignore it as best as possible. I believe the more you ignore it and just change the subject as though you never even heard maybe she will stop bringing the subject up. If you are with other people and she is telling someone in the group, maybe you could start talking to someone else, as though this is "old news" to you (which it would be). Maybe and hopefully she'll take the hint. Or really, the best method would probably be to just tell her upfront how you feel about it, in the nicest way possible. Honesty, is always the best way! Good luck, dear!

Everybody wants to be unique, to have some mystery. Russian accents are hot. Has she a Russian accent ? No ? Tell her to shut up about it then !

Return the favor and talk about your own background when she brings up her Russian ones.

Your so-called friend is obviously immature as she constantly wants to get attention from everyone she meets and also feels the irrepressible need to be interesting all the time.
Tell her to shut the hell up, grow up and get a life!

what difference does it make if she wants to mention this? Sounds to me like there are some other issues here, or that you have some huge control issues with your friend!

most Russian women I have known/worked with ,have been bossy headstrong and tempermental, they are a pain in the behind...I have never met one who is good natures ...they are always so serious and deadpan....they need to lighten up....No you are not wrong in feeling the way you do.

Sounds to me like your friend doesn't have much self esteem. For some reason, she thinks that discussing the one thing that seems to make her "different" is all she has.... that is sad.
